Flamefoot's Discovery

Chapter 1

(Cat above is Deerpaw)
   Flamepaw watched as Deerpaw picked up a mouse out of the fresh kill pile. Wow he thought She's so pretty and- "Hey!" Deerpaw meowed snapping Flamepaw out of his thoughts, "Want to share a mouse?"
"Oh!" He meowed in surprise as his father snickered behind him, "I would love to!" Deerpaw smiled as they ate the mouse. "Hey!" Beepaw meowed sitting in between the two cats, she turned to Flamepaw, "So... How's it going?" She meowed snuggling close to him. He scooted away, "It was good," he meowed trying to emphasize the was. "Oh,"she meowed, "That's a shame. Good thing I'm here to make it better," she meowed scooting closer to Flamepaw, oblivious to his hint. Deerpaw gave him a look that said I'm sorry. He meowed, "I think Cometfall's calling my name! Better go!"  Beepaw gave him a confused look, "I didn't hear him," she meowed moving even closer to Flamepaw. He groaned and waited for someone to help him with this annoying she-cat. "Flamepaw!" Cometfall yowled, "Get over here now! Or I'll tell Frogstar to wait to make you a warrior until you're his age!" Flamepaw's ears flattened against his head as he scrambled over to his mentor. They padded over to the training area. "Come on," Cometfall meowed, "We haven't got all day,"
"I am, I am," Flamepaw grumbled under his breath.

   "Tomorrow you won't have time to talk to your girlfriend," Cometfall meowed as he made Flamepaw pounce on a pile of leaves. "You know I hate her," he argued, "Beepaw is so annoying-" he stopped when he heard a few cats walk in. Eclipsepaw was blabbering on and on to Beepaw but she was just staring at Flamepaw. I love you she mouthed. He almost threw up on the ground. Deerpaw and Cocoapaw,her sister, were trailing behind them with their mentors. Deerpaw's gaze lit up when she saw Flamepaw. "Focus!" Cometfall hissed. Flamepaw narrowed his eyes.

   The sun was setting, but Cometfall was still making Flamepaw train. After giving him an explanation on how to catch squirrels, they went in search of one. Deerpaw who was nice enough to stay with Flamepaw meowed to Cometfall, "But CreekClan doesn't catch squirrels!" Deerpaw meowed. "We aren't like MoonClan, they climb trees but who says you need to climb a tree to catch a squirrel?" Cometfall retorted. "Uhh... I do." Deerpaw meowed. Cometfall shrugged, "What ever, I'm not teaching him to climb trees. We're not MoonClan." Flamepaw crouched in the ground stalking a squirrel. He darted after the squirrel. It climbed up a tree. "Ok," Cometfall meowed, "We'll go find another," but Flamepaw wasn't listening. He was making his was up the tree after the squirrel. "Get down from there!" Cometfall meowed, "You'll hurt yourself!" Flamepaw kept climbing. Flamepaw grabbed the squirrel in his jaws and snapped it's neck, then climbed down the tree. Deerpaw cheered as Cometfall's eyes narrowed. "Who taught you to do that?" He hissed. Flamepaw shrugged. "No one I guess,"

   Flamepaw proudly dropped his squirrel in the fresh kill pile. Beepaw bounded over to him, pushing Deerpaw out of the way. "So Flamepaw," she meowed snuggling close to him, "I see you caught a squirrel. I'm sorry I could see you catch it I was busy training. You must be so talented to catch one! I was waiting for you like forever!" Flamepaw snuck away as the annoying she-cat blabbered on. He laid down in his nest, smiling at Deerpaw as she smiled back.

   Flamepaw opened his eyes with a start. The rain outside was pouring. Deerpaw was sound asleep next to her sister, Cocoapaw. Quietly as he could, Flamepaw snuck out of the apprentices. He heard voices whispering. "How should we kill him?"

"Deathberries?"

"Killing him with our claws would be easier,"

"He's so old he should die soon anyway,"

"Yeah he should be in the elder's den,"

"Any day now he'll be dead, we just need to be patient,"

"Humph. I think we should just kill him and get it over with,"

"He has nine lives mouse-brain, he's so old he'll lose all of his lives to his age!"

   Flamepaw gasped. Someone's plotting to kill Frogstar! Flamepaw panicked, running over to the leader's den. He ran inside, "Frogstar-" he began to meow but stopped. Frogstar's body was shaking hard. His eyes were wide and filled with pain. "Flame-" he began to meow but was cut off when he began to cough up blood. He looked at him. "G-Get S-Ssswampblossom," he meowed trembling. Flamepaw nodded and ran over to Swampblossom's den. "Swampblossom!" he meowed. Swampblossom woke with a start. "Frogstar!" Flamepaw yelped. Swampblossom didn't need any more explaining, she raced off to Frogstar's den.
