Mara
Amara was late.
It all started because she was up late writing a paper and decided to close her eyes for a ten-minute nap before she edited it. Needless to say that ten-minute nap turned into a two hour one. Then, when she finally woke up and noticed the time, she got lost in her paper trying to make sure that it was perfect; she needed those A's. By the time she looked around it was 9 o'clock and she had to be at her appointment across campus by 9:30.
Amara shook her head. "Thinking about what made you late is not going to make you any less late Mara... Find some clothes and keep it moving." Mara talked to herself often, it drove her roommates crazy, but she needed it to keep her sane. Sometimes she'd had full on conversations with herself but doing it helped her to think out what was going on around her.
Throwing on a black skater skirt, a black crop sweater, and her red over the knee boots Mara thought about what she needed for the day. "Paper... Handy dandy pouch of wonders... Notebook... Blistex... Pens... Headphones... Am I forgetting anything?" Mara thought for a moment and then looked at her bed. "Oh! My phone. Woulda been assed out without this baby," she mumbled. She checked the time, 9:20. Mara started to move like there was a fire under her ass. Throwing the satin scarf around her red braids on her bed, she reached for her god hoops and put then in her ears. She ran to the closet that her and her three other roommates stored their coats in and grabbed her red plaid pea coat. Rushing out the door she grabbed her keys and a granola bar and ran to the steps, she had no time to wait for the slow ass elevator.
As she power walked out of her building she sighed. "Two more days and I'll be home with my family for winter break..."
Raeni
Raeni stirred as she heard the door slam. "Who the fuck actin' like they don't got any home training and letting the door slam at..." She looked at her phone next to her on the bed "9:22 in the morning?"
The warm body next to her groaned and opened its eyes, tightening its arm around her waist. Then it began to speak "Love it is too early in the morning for you to be going off. Just come here, keep me warm, and enjoy the fact that neither of us have anywhere to be or anything to do right now... Okay?"
Raeni smiled at her boyfriend of seven months, Adair. He was definitely the calm to her... not so calm. Waking up next to him was a gift so rolling her eyes she snuggled up under his bare chest and sighed in contentment as he wrapped both arms around her. Turning to face him and playing with his chin hairs she asked him "How'd you sleep baby?"
Smiling at her Adair said, "Great. You know I always sleep better with you by my side. It also helps that you go through so much to make your bed comfortable. I never want to leave it."
"And I never want you to leave it," She said pecking him on the lips. Every day with Dai made her glad that she heard him out on that sunny day the past May. He was her twin soul, the cream to her coffee, and every other corny analogy that she couldn't think of at 9:30 in the morning. "Good Morning Dai."
"Morning Ni."
Smiling, she turned over turning on the speaker next to her bed. Picking up her phone she scrolled to her Mornings with Bae playlist and picked the first song that grabbed her eye India Arie's Brown Skin. Leaving the volume low she hugged him and let the music flow between them. Raeni was not a morning person and she was glad that her boyfriend understood that engaging her in real conversation before 10'oclock was a no-go. He had gotten used to her habit of playing music to get into the frame of mind that allowed her to communicate with others. It was the first time that they had really been able to actually chill together since finals started a week ago. No tests to study for, no papers to write, and no last minute group things to bother them. She wanted to take all the time that she could with her man before they both went their separate ways for the holidays. And with that thought she just hummed and cuddled her personal chocolate some more.
A/N: Just a quick introduction to the two of the four lovely ladies in the story. I hope that you like it so far. I'll probably put up the second part sometime tomorrow. I imagine Mara to look like Janet did in PoeticJustice just a little bit on the thicker side of the spectrum. Raeni is straight up a SZAlook alike.
