 Chapter 6

Alice's POV

William took the bottle from my hands and threw it away. "Would you like another?" He asked reaching into the fridge. "No, thank you," I said trying to not sound disgusted.

"Ding! Dong!" It wasn't the doorbell it was a man. He walked carrying bags of grocery's and set them on the counter. "What are you doing back?" William asked surprised. Who was this man? I simply sat there pretending not to notice him, but I couldn't. He had black shaggy hair. He had white glowing eyes and he was wearing a butler uniform. "Well, I'm sorry I havn't introduced myself!" He said ignoring William. "I'm Alexander, you can call me Alex," He held out his hand to shake my hand. I shook his hand. "I'm Alice," I said with a nervous smile. "The Alice?" He now was looking at William for an answer. William shook his head. "Oh, Alice this is the queen's favorite butler. I sent him to go get a large group of grocery's and I didn't expect him to be back so soon," He said staring at Alex with piercing eyes.

"Favorite?" I said surprised. "Yes," Alex said putting the grocery's away. "How are you a favorite?" I asked. "Well, I killed her sister's boyfriend that was cheating on the white queen with her sister. Any other questions?" He asked staring at me. Wow. I didn't think that at all. I was just thinking that he was a favorite because he was hot.

"Ummm, no," I said standing up from the stool and straightening out my dress. "Wait," I said thinking of another question. "How did you make it back?" I asked wanting to hear this. "Well, Alice, I'm a butler that can defend himself when needed without tearing any bags of grocery's," Alex said pulling his glove more down hiding his skin. "William can I have a word with you?" Alex asked finishing putting up the grocery's. "Stay here," William said walking out of the kitchen with Alex.

I could faintly hear what they were saying. Only a couple of words were audible. This is what I heard: "How, She, Know, Time, Red queen, Soldiers," I pressed my ear up against the wall trying to hear more, but it didn't help. I sat back down and they shortly came in. "Alice," Alex said, "Will you come with me please?" "Umm sure," I said hopping down from the stool yet again.

We walked up the stairs and to a room that was filled with books. It was a two story library. In the center was a circle of chairs. I looked toward where William was standing to find him not there. I then began too look for him. "Alex?" I asked loud enough for him to hear. "Yes?" He called back stepping down from a ladder. "Oh," I said. I then began to peer at the books when Alex started shoving a stack of books in my hands. There was about four of them and they were thick, maybe five hundred pages or more. He took out a towel from his pocket and began to wipe the dust away from the books. The title of the top book was 'Wonderland's History'. I moved that one to the bottom and read the next one 'Wonderland Maps'. I moved that one to the bottom and read the next one 'Wonderland's people'. I moved that one to the bottom and read the next one 'Wonderland's Prophecys'.

I looked at Alex. "I expect you to read all this in two days," He said putting the towel back in his pocket. My jaw dropped to the floor. "What?!" I said looking at all of the books and their thickness. "That's like two thousand pages?!" I said not wanting to read this. It felt like it was going to be a long history lesson. "You'd be lucky if I read one of these in three weeks!" He looked at me with a blank expression. "Well you have all day tomorrow, all of that night, all of the next day, and all of the next night," He said with a flat tone. "What?!" I said still with my jaw on the floor. He pushed my mouth closed and said "You'll catch flies," and did a little chuckle and left the room. "Are you insane?!" I yelled after him hoping he would hear. He came back in a second later. "I don't know, I think I am, but I suggest you start reading," He said and then left again.

I sat in a chair in the center of the room and began 'Wonderland's People'. The night grew darker and I was only only half way through when William came in. "Alice?" He asked in shock. I kept reading. My eyes grew tired as I read over all of the people's names and can I trust them and where they are. "Alice," He said louder. I looked up from my book. He was wearing now night clothes. I yawned and put a book mark in the book and closed it. "What time is it?" I asked tiredly. "Four in the morning. You best be heading off to bed." I stood up from the chair and almost fell over until William caught me. "I'll help you." He picked me up to where my feet no longer touched the floor. Carrying me bridal style. I didn't fight. I was too tired to even think. I couldn't even remember what I just read.

Before I knew it I was being laid in bed and my shoes were being slipped off. I felt the blanket being pulled over me. "Good night, Alice," William said kissing my forehead and shut the door.

I woke up to find light peering through the clear doors of the balcony. I got up out of bed and headed down stairs. I went into the kitchen. Boy was I hungry. I grabbed out the waffles when William shortly came in. He was now wearing a suit like the one he had on yesterday. "Waffles for lunch?" He asked with eyes wide. "It's lunch?!" I almost shouted. "Yes, you slept through breakfast and the queen told me not to wake you," He hid a small laugh behind his words. "I don't care," I simply said calming down and throwing three waffles in the toaster. "Oh, Alex wants to know, how are you coming on those books?" He asked watching me pull out a plate and syrup and a spoon. "Well I havn't finished any, i'm half way through my first one," I said taking the waffles out of the toaster and putting them on a plate with some syrup being added.

I sat down next to William on the stools.
