New Girl

The morning had started out normally for Adalynn, she effortlessly went through her routine without a thought about what was about to happen to her friends, her relationship, and her metal health as well as her social health.

She had gotten up at the usual 6:30, then gotten into her regular Friday attire, a white shirt and a short pink skirt, then did her makeup. By the time she had made it downstairs, her mother had a breakfast laid out for Adalynn, containing a bowl of Greek yogurt with fresh berries and a cup of freshly made coffee.

"Thanks Mom." Adalynn said, sitting down at the dinner table and eating her breakfast.

Adalynn's mom sits down next to her daughter, her long, blonde hair freshly curled and her makeup complete. She was wearing a chic white dress with white heels and gold brackets, a necklace, and ring. Adalynn's mother worked at a fashion magazine company called Sugar and Spice, and she always looked like she was modeling something from the magazine.

"How's school going?" Adalynn's mother asks casually.

Adalynn looks up from her breakfast.

"Its fine, Biology is hard, but I'm not failing." Adalynn replies, then goes back to her yogurt and berries.

One thing that the people at school didn't know about Adalynn was that she was smart, she didn't have anything under a B. Adalynn never told anyone this, in fear that that would they bully her for her smartness. That was her weakness, the fear of being bullied.

After breakfast, Adalynn hurriedly gets into her mom's car and they start driving to Adalynn's friend's house. Alyssa Roberts and Raylie Fletcher both are waiting outside when they arrive, their makeup fully done and their outfits chic and expensive. Alyssa and Raylie are neighbors, ever since the first grade when Alyssa had moved from Colorado. Adalynn and Raylie had met the previous year and they decided to let Alyssa into their friendship circle.

"Hey Adalynn." Alyssa says, as she climbs into the back seat along with Raylie.

"What's your excuse now?" Adalynn asks Raylie, as she watches Raylie pull out her Biology book.

Raylie always does her homework in the drive to school instead of on the previous night. Raylie also always has an excuse she uses if she doesn't finish the homework in time and why she's doing it in the car.

"Mom was fighting with Dad all night. It was to distracting." Raylie mumbles as she begins her homework.

Raylie's parents hated each other but stayed together for Raylie and her siblings. Raylie had five siblings, Jasper, 15, Michael, 14, Ashton, 14, Sauyer, 10, and Madison, 5. Raylie, along with the other girls, is 14 making Michael , Ashton, and Raylie triplets.

"Sorry to hear that. How's the siblings?" Alyssa asks.

"Jasper has threatened to run away multiple times, Michael and Ashton keep skipping school to hang out all over town, and Sauyer and Madison are oblivious." Raylie says.

"Well, we're going over after school. Its your turn to host the weekend slumber party." Adalynn says, beginning to drive to school.

"Guys I'm trying to do homework! Stop talking to to me and talk to each other about, I don't know. Makeup?" Raylie snaps.

"Alright, alright. Calm down Raylie. So Adalynn, how are you and Luke?" Alyssa says, winking at Adalynn.

"We're good, he's been busy with guitar so we haven't hung out much, but he promised me a date soon." Adalynn replies.

"That's not what you were saying when I asked you about him. You said you didn't know if he loved you because his guitar came before you." Adalynn's mom speaks up for the first time during the car ride.

Adalynn and her mom had an agreement that Adalynn's mom start silent when she was with her friends, to protect Adalynn's social life.

"I wish I had a boyfriend, you're so lucky even though he loves his guitar." Alyssa says, looking out the window, ignoring Adalynn's mom.

"Oh come on Alyssa, you could ask anyone out at school and they would say yes in a heartbeat." Adalynn says.

"I know, but that's only because I'm friends with you and you scare everyone." Alyssa shruggs. "I want something genuine."

The girls arrive in school and make their grand entrance. Walking side-by-side, they looks straight ahead as the sea of students part for the Queen Bee and her sidekicks.

When they reach Adalynn's locker, Luke is waiting for them with his best friend and Raylie's boyfriend, Calum.

"Hey Luke. Hey Calum." Alyssa says to the boys as they hug their girlfriend.

After hugging Luke, she turns to her locker and opens it.

"Luke, Raylie and I are gonna go to her locker then to class okay?" Calum says, his muscly arm around Raylie.

"Okay, see you in gym." Luke says, as the two lovebirds leave.

Adalynn grabs her books and applies a fresh layer of red matte lipstick, then closes her locker.

"Ready to go to class?" Adalynn asks, noticing that Luke already has his books.

"Yeah, you coming Alyssa?" Luke asks.

"You two go I'm going to go to my locker." Alyssa says, and walks toward her locker.

"Okay, see you at lunch." Adalynn says, as she and Luke start to walk to class.

When they arrive in Biology, the two take their seats next to each other and begin to talk about their upcoming date.

"I can't wait for you to see where I'm taking you." Luke says, smiling his award winning smile.

"You should tell me where we're going!" Adalynn whines.

Suddenly, a girl that Adalynn doest recognize walks into the class room.

"Who's that?" Luke asks.

"I don't know." Adalynn says, staring at the girl.

Soon, the class begins and Mr Martin ands up from his desk to start the class.

"Good morning everyone, happy Friday. Today we will be learning about cells, but first we have a new student. Will everyone please join me in welcoming Skylar Gordon?" Mr Martin says. "Skylar, you can sit in that open seat next to Adalynn Thomas. Adalynn, raise your hand."

Adalynn reluctantly raises her hand and Skylar sits right next to her, in the open desk. Mr Martin starts to teach and Skylar turns to Adalynn.

"My name is Skylar. I'm new here." She whispers.

"Pleasure." Adalynn whispers back, not looking away from Mr Martin.

Skylar doesn't say anything, but all Adalynn is think us how she's going to put this girl in her place, and that's with the rest of the student body.
