Erin buried her face in her hands, staring down into the coffee mug in front of her. Forty hours. They had spent forty straight hours working on this case and they had hit nothing but dead ends. The case file sat open on the desk beside her, but she couldn't bring herself to look at the same information again, the information she could now practically recite from memory.

"God dammit!" Came a yell from the break room down the hall. "Who the hell used all the sugar?" Tensions were running high, most of the people in the office running off a waning supply of caffeine. Erin couldn't help but smirking into her hands, knowing very well who had uttered the yell.

"Where did we go wrong?" Erin lifted her head from her hands, letting her sleep-deprived gaze rest on Jay. He continued to speak, not caring if anybody was listening to him or not, rubbing his chin as he looked over the board they had hung all the case information on. He sighed, half-sitting on his desk, all the while scanning the board for any missing information or discrepancies, unconsciously rubbing his chin with his index finger and thumb. A loud slam and thump sounded from down the stairwell, and before Erin could react, a hamburger landed on her desk, followed by the desks of the rest of the unit. Atwater grinned as he threw he empty take-out bag in the garbage, feigning a follow-through as the bag landed in the trash bin.

"Thanks man" Antonio said, his eyes never leaving the numerous case files piled upon his desk. Atwater nodded in his direction before slipping behind his own desk and opening his laptop, biting into his burger. Erin hadn't finished chewing when the door to Voight's office slammed open, shaking the entire wall, the sound resonating throughout the room, the old building not made withstand such force. Ruzek poked his head from outside the break room, his struggles to open the new bag of sugar halted by the sudded noise. All eyes were on Voight when he started to speak.

"I just got a call from the district. Maxwell Private Academy is in lockdown, a student with a gun managed to elude security and shoot three students and is now holding hostages."

"And why are they telling us?" Halstead spoke up. "That's a job for patrol." Olinsky nodded in agreement.

"Wait a second" Antonio spoke up, riffling through a file on his desk. "I recognize that name. Isn't that-"

"The school Geoffrey Spindel attended. Several of the students who escaped positively ID'd him as the shooter" Voight interrupted. "This idiot who managed to escape from our view and who we've been spending the past day searching for decided to show up again, and this time we're not playing nice. Suit up, we're heading out in five." The latter was said over his shoulder as he walked down the stairs. Erin took a final bite of her hamburger before tossing it in the trash and heading off to the armory.
