"... Slow down will ya?" Devryon said as he picked up a pen and one of the notebooks. He started hastedly writing down each of the symptoms as Shen read them. When Shen finished, Dev jotted the last bit then stopped and frowned at what he just heard and wrote. This was a desease he's heard of before. Not the one mentioned in the medical book, but one simular to it not quite as deadly, but left untreated, could one day be. No doctor would catch it, cause it mostly resembles that of a bad cold or flu with a bit of walking pneumonia mìxed in. But the fevers were always very high.
Raf and Shen caught his darken look and before the question asked he just said, "my Sara died from this 3 centuries ago. I studied about this, had thought it was a plague at first, but found out it was different. This needs treatment or it will become deadly." He now looked at Anna. She on the other hand was looking mildly blank at him, he wonder if she even cared about her health. He started to ask her that bluntly but she forestalled him with a straight answer.
"Dev, I do nothing but worry about it that I never live the life that I'm supposed to. I watched my mom withered away from the vidz my dad had of her since he's known her in high school. My mom died at the young age of 28. So if I go thru my life like she did, then I'll have 8 more years to live. And I would like to have children and become an old granny of 90. So you worry, I wanna have fun while I can. Ok?" She gave him a smile to soften her words. He sighed and nodded. And all he replied was, "I hope ya do, Anna, I truly hope that ya do." And Raf and Shen also agreed. Shenri went back to the books, now with some knowledge of what to look for, and find a way to help her with living with it, and longer. Devryon helped as he told him what to look for and some things that helped a little back 300 years ago.
When Terra, Gerryk and Rajur return with the drinks, they notice the difference in the guys from earlier. Terra looked at them then Annalli who was smiling happily at them as they approached. Terra smiled back, not going to dampen her spirit with stupid questions and she darted a warning look at Gerryk who seemed to relax and nodded his knowledge that she was in a happy state of mind and he'd be damned if he'll take that away.
Giving out the drinks, Anna told them what Dev had told them about someone he lost to this same desease. She had told them of her symptoms, showing them in one of the many books Shen had laying open. So now there may be hope. But she knew to keep a level head. This was good news to the others and a cause to celebrate! Tho Shen and Dev said it was time best to study and celebrate after the treatment to keep her from having these fevers was found and Anna on the way to a healthier, happier life. All agreed.
They spent every hour they could studying and researching. Never forgetting their regular studies and classes. Shenri didn't have a major so he was free to study whatever he wanted. And he took the far corner of the library, going thru every medical book they had. He had even forgotten to go to the cafeteria to get something to eat from time to time. And he had done this for 2 weeks straight and on the Wednesday of the 3rd week, with only a small bite here and there, Shen had lost a lot of weight and when he stood up from the table that he had been occupying for the last 2 and a half weeks, dizziness overwhelmed him and he started to drop. Rajur was walking down the closet book isle, saw this and ran to catch him. Keeping him from hitting his head against the corner of it. Frowning at the lightness of the youth's body now.
Rajur as well as the others had noticed the determination in Shenri's pale amethyst eyes, that he was neglecting his own self just to try and find a cause. This had Anna worried. And that set the other's to not only watch her, but him as well. Raf and Dev had warned him to take breaks and he had promised to do so, however, he had never broken a promise... until now.
Raf and Dev having to be absent because of the sacrifice that Shen had found before he started studying the medical journals, so they weren't there to make sure he kept his promise.
