PETE POV
I didn't share period one or two with Patrick. In fact the only class I shared with him was music. Apparently he had taken up guitar and drums, like I had taken up bass. This meant that the next time I saw Patrick was interval. The six of us met back at the same patch of grass, I was the last to arrive. Everyone was laughing as I walked over. Patrick fell quiet as I flopped down beside him.
"What are we laughing about?" I ask, ignoring the way Patrick reacted to my presence.
Give him time.
"Spencer's birthday party in two weeks." Brendon announces. "We're gonna throw him quinceanera. Big dress and everything."
Spencer scowled a smacked Brendon upside the head. "Not happening. Who said you're invited?"
Brendon laughs, tackling Spencer to the ground. "Of course I'm invited you fuck nugget."Spencer squeals as Brendon straddle Spencer and start to tickle his sides. Ryan and I exchanged a glance. We were personally waiting for these two idiots to get together, but it was taking longer than we expected. Ignoring Spencer's squealing and Brendon's maniacal laughter Jon, Ryan, Patrick and I turned to each other.
"So Patrick, any special someone in your life?" Ryan asked, I turned to watch Patrick's answer. A red blush spread across his cheeks.
"Aha! Look at that blush! Who is she?!" Jon points, causing Patrick to blush harder.
"There's no one, trust me." Patrick reassured us. "But what's the story with those two?" As Patrick asks this, Spencer manages to escape from under Brendon and jumps up, tearing across the field, straight through a game of soccer. Brendon wastes no time in giving chase. Jon laughs, Ryan sighs, and I fall on my back groaning.
"We've been waiting for them to get together since they met." Ryan explains. "It's been a long three years full of that."Patrick laughs. "Why don't you just lock them in a room together?"
I sit up and exchange glances with Ryan and Jon.
"We did. Unfortunately Spencer happened to have monopoly in his room on that particular day." I explain.
"We've also sent a valentine to Spencer and blamed it on Brendon."
"And vice versa." Jon interrupts Ryan. I laugh at the memory.
"And we've played truth or dare and spin the bottle, which was a game in itself for us three, where the aim was to make them kiss as much as possible." Ryan continues.
"The thing is neither of them care, they just go along with it, then they dare two of us to kiss." Memories of us in Brendon's basement flooded my mind and I suddenly wished Patrick had been part of them. Ryan laughed and turned to me.
"They made Jon and I kiss, they left you alone because you're straight. Actually-" Ryan points at Patrick. "What are you?"
Patrick's eyes widen. "I- straight?"
Jon glances at me as Ryan continues.
"There you go Petey, You're not the only straight one anymore."
I nod and laugh slightly, watching Patrick. He was suddenly very jittery and nervous.
"Watch out!" Spencer screamed suddenly, careering towards us. "Protect me!" He squealed, diving into the middle of the circle. Brendon was close behind him, but at that moment the bell rang.
"Pete!" Brendon screamed hauling me to my feet. "It's music time!"
"Yay."
"Just for the record the weather today is slightly sarcastic." Ryan announced, coming to stand by me. "With a good chance of gay." He whispered, nodding towards Brendon and Spencer. All six of us shared the same music class, so we were all heading in the same direction.
