My eyes flashed open as they caught the glaring light pooling in through my blinds. It was still too early. I flipped over stretching as my bones cracked in the process. My thoughts went back to the events of last night. Had it been real?

Of course it was. I had found someone. Possibly my mate. I didn't feel all the feelings that everyone always told stories about. What was happening. Was something wrong with me?

"Stop worrying, you're going to give me a headache," My wolf decided to make an appearance.

"Is he my mate?" I had to ask. I needed to know.
"Yes. The way I felt towards the wolf, it felt as if my body was being painfully stretched out if I didn't at least try to move closer to him. I started to suffocate when I realised I couldn't touch him. I nearly lost control and nearly forced you to change, just so I could stand near him. What I felt, I can't explain. Even now I feel wounded because I didn't get close enough. Why do you ask?"

I stared up at the ceiling, my face falling a little.
"Because I don't feel the same."
I just wanted to sink deeper into the comfort of my bed and sleep it off. I almost succeeded. Almost.

"ALEKS! ALEKS, GET DOWN HERE QUICK. We've got mail!" And that was the sound of an idiot called Jason.

"Jason go away, I'm trying to sleep. I just want peace. Is that too much to ask?" I screamed back, my head falling back onto the pillow.

Just when I thought I could have silence. Jason had managed to creep up along the hall, taking advantage of my worn-out state. I only had realised he was near when I felt my bed dip.

"For goodness sake! All you do is sleep and run, sleep and run! Live a little," he added with a smile as he caught the dangerous smirk that crossed my face.

"Why don't you leave so that you can live a little longer." I didn't have time to admire my joke before I was interrupted again.

"Shut up bitch! Anyway, what I've been trying to tell you is that we've been invited back to the pack houses again because there is going to be a ball. I would've told you yesterday but you were out nearly all day. Anyway, I have been waiting to get all dressed up so that I could possibly meet my mate, finally. Can a bitch holla?"

In all honesty I had completely drowned out everything that Jason had said. I had only realised he wants me to say something after I received a slap on the top of my head.

"Ow! What was that for?" All I wanted was to sleep. That's all I wanted. I had been out all day yesterday and had only come in at 5 in the morning. What was it now? I glanced at the clock to my left. 7:46. Great.

"Obviously I'm boring you so in short, make sure your lazy ass is ready we might be going shopping. Bye bitch."

And with that one of my best friends strutted out. Nope. He's not gay. That's what I'm worried about.

I threw myself back onto my bed, snuggling deeper into the covers and looked at the box that had been left on my bed. I carefully lifted the lid and inside laid the most beautiful mask I had ever seen. The gold lace had been adorned with pearls I had known were real. I looked up sighing as a thought hit me. I guess I would have to gear up and ensure I would be ready to go the ball.

As I fingered the note which had become the bearer of the royal crest of our pack, I had seen the date the ball was set to begin. I had three days.

"Do you think she will show up?"
"I'm sure she will, we practically demanded everyone to make an appearance. Well everyone of importance."Rollo replied, giving me a look before getting back to throwing the tennis ball at the wall, waiting for it to bounce back into his palm only for him to repeat the process.
