Me and the girls had finally finished our shopping and had chosen to find a quick place to dine. I looked down still chewing my cheesy chips to peer into one of my many shopping bags to admire the fabric inside.

Realisation hit me as I discreetly kicked the bag shut quickly glancing up to one of our right bodyguards standing not as 'discreetly' a few feet behind me.

So much for freedom.

We were promised time to ourselves but not that long into our spree we of course noticed we were being spied upon.

In a split second we had come to a decision to split up to see if we still could smell the familiar scent. Of course we had.

Communicating through the pack link we had come to an agreement to confront each of our stalkers.
--
"Ma'am, we were under strict orders to ensure your safety."

"And by whom may we ask? If we had been promised a relaxing and stress free day then, sir, that is what we will get." Morrigan, one of my many flat mates, questioned while her eyes shot spears aimed at the guard.

"Ma'am, orders are orders which we all must obey. You may continue on with your day."  The guard had taken on a stance signalling the conversation had drawn to a close. A quick look over to Morrigan only showed the fury spread like wildfire across her face as to being dismissed without her choosing. The air prickled with the charge of tension due to the deadly stare off between Morrigan and the guard.

"Hey, maybe we should head back? We are all finished here right?" I quickly spoke to the group, my feet already killing me from standing not 2 minutes.

We had woken at 6am and had been ready to shop at 7am. We drove through four different towns, spending ridiculous amounts of money, given to us by our alpha, on anything that had caught our fancy. It had now been approaching 11pm and I was approaching deaths door awaiting a scented bubble bath.

I stood unmoving with bated breath as I waited for the signal that we could move without being snapped at. After eye contact had been broken, only for Morrigan to release a snarl under her breath, we all were escorted to the cars we came in.

As we drove through the scenes of monstrously towering forests whose branches stretched in the direction of the place I called home, I noticed how heavy the atmosphere had suddenly changed.

I had not even realised that Kristen, one of the other girls who were a part of the Omnis, had been talking with the girls comparing dresses when my eyes caught movement.

My breath hitched and the talk in the car died down as the girls attention had instantly moved to me.

"Aleks? Are you alright?" Maia had asked while placing her hand across mine. She was gorgeous with the most beautiful eyes and silky alluring hair . I often hoped to avoid eye contact with Maia as I could always get the sense that she could see beneath the surface. Deeper towards my soul.

My eyes had zoned in on the reflection of the moon shining upon the coat of a black wolf. A quick show of recognition flitted across my face before it was covered up by panic. He was the one I had seen the other day. The alpha. Many questions swam in my head but one was more prominent. What was he doing here? Before I could make eye contact, the wolf had bounded away from my line of sight. I searched the trees blackened by the night to finally make eye contact with the wolf as we approached the gates towards our home.

I had been staring into the eyes of the alpha. The remains of charred stars and obsidian suns swam in the pools of darkness. The depth of the dark pulled me in deeper until all I knew was the darkness of my mind. After I had blinked and tries to refocus on the situation before me, all that lingered in the corners of my vision were the stings of the night. I had not noticed how quick the seconds had ticked by but in a blink of an eye, the wolf was gone.
