11 YEARS LATER
Aubrey closed her bedroom door and headed for another day at school. It was nearing the end of the third quarter, but that didn't stop her from dreading school. Aubrey walked out the door with her lunch in one hand, and her backpack in the other. "Bye mom!"Aubrey heard a faint "Bye!" when she boarded the bus.
At school, she headed to her first class. "It's Thursday, so I have Projects," she muttered. Aubrey reached Projects on time with two minutes to spare. "Phew," she whispered.
"Everyone stand at the front of the class, we're changing seating arrangements." Mr.Lent called. The class filed to the front.
"Looks like I might be sitting with you!" Luke, Aubrey's archenemy grinned an evil grin at her.
"Serves you right." Aubrey whispered back.
"What did you say to me?" he threatened.
"I said, serves you right." Aubrey challenged. Then she laughed. Luke growled and looked up to the teacher. Aubrey copied.
"Luke, you have your own desk by mine." the teacher scolded Luke. This is why she liked Mr.Lent. "Aubrey, you'll sit next to Cindy, and Brock."
Aubrey frowned, but went to her desk anyway. She was the closest to Luke. She leaned towards Cindy. "Can you do me a favor?" Aubrey asked. Cindy looked at her, and put her finger over her lip. Aubrey sighed. It was going to be a long day. She officially sat by Luke in every class.
In Projects, Luke whispered under his breath. Aubrey looked at him and he whispered a little louder, pretending not to notice Aubrey, saying,"And that's how I'll kill Aubrey..."
In Social Studies, Luke took her homework, and that was the last she's seen of it.
In P.E. Luke demolished her in hockey.
In Science, he toppled over her project, and covered his mouth and acted like he did it by accident.
In Art, that's when Aubrey discovered something unusual. Luke, apparently hit the last straw. He took a paint brush and almost swiped it across her painting, but Aubrey lifted her hand, and swiped it away, and with the other hand, she froze the brush. Yes! FROZE!
Luke widened his eyes at what he just saw, and another miracle happened. Aubrey warmed the brush and Luke thought he was imagining. Luke looked at her. "Did you or was I imagining?"
Aubrey shrugged. "Maybe you were imagining because I have no clue what you're talking about!"
Aubrey was full of confusion when she reached home. She needed answers!
