Indya

"Indya! You're late to class again!" My professor yelled at me once again for not coming to class on time.
"What's your excuse this time?" He said giving me a petty stare.
"There's no excuse." I mumbled.
"What was that?"
"There's NO EXCUSE!" I said louder, loud enough for the next class over to hear me.
"Go sit. Not in your usual spot. Go sit in the back next to August." He instructed me, pointing towards the back row of seats.
"Who the hell is August?!"
"August raise your hand." Professor told him and as soon he said it a hand was raised. I made my way to the raises hand and sat down.
"Hi August." I said in a sarcastic tone.
"Uh hi..Indya?" He said in this thick accent.
"Yeah that's my name. Where you from? You gotta cute lil accent on you." I said look at him but he wouldn't look back at me.
"New Orleans. What about you?" He asked with his head still turned away from me.
"I'm from Here. Never left. New York is my home I love it. So many good memories.." I smiled and he nodded his head.
"Why you won't look at me?" I asked him which caused him to look at me very quickly then look away. I lifted his head back up making him look at me.
"You cute. Stop being so shy." I smiled sweetly at him. He was really adorable. He had on these big glasses and his ears were pierced. He had some sexy ass lips and nice teeth too. Real cute. Not my type though.
"I'll stop bothering you so we can pay attention." I gave him another smile and left him alone. We were listening to our lecture and  I kept seeing him take glances at me.
"Whatttt?" I whispered while smiling.
"Just lookin at ya tattoos. They look real nice." He told me.
"Well thanks. I wanna get more. You got any?"
"Yeah I got a couple. Ima get some more." He said, still not giving me eye contact. I examined him and noticed a couple of tattoos.
"You know you uh..you spelled music wrong." I pointed to his neck. He let out a slight chuckle.
"Yeah I'm aware..I was just young and tryna be different." He finally looked at me.
"I really like dat dreamcatcher ya got on ya arm. Look real nice." He complimented me.
"Yeah I got it for my sister. She passed away not too long ago." I told him.
"Oh man..I'm sorry ta hea dat ma. My dad passed away too."
"I'm sorry to hear that too. It's hard going through deaths..especially with people that you're close to."
"Yeah real hard." He agreed biting his bottom lip.
"Hey you should come to club Argyle with me and a couple friends next Thursday..its a tradition we've done ever since my sister passed."
"I'll think about it. I don't really get out much."
"Here, text me." I said hold my hand out and he looked at me confused.
"Give me your phone big head!" I slightly laughed.
"Oh!" He blushed, feeling embarrassed, and handed me his phone. I put my number in there and texted myself.
"Alright. Call me tonight okay?" I asked him and he nodded his head.
"Class is almost over and we haven't learned shit."  I played with my nails.
"Yea..oh well though. He never really teaches anything." With that being said the bell rang. We gathered our things, and began to walk out of class.
"Don't forget to call me." I said when we got out of class.
"I won't, I promise." He smiled.
"Look at you! Finally giving me eye contact!" I joked around and he smiled wider showing off his perfectly straight teeth.
"I'll see you around okay?" I gave him a side hug.
"Alright Indya." He hugged back and we went our separate ways.
August

"AUGUST!" I heard that annoying voice once again.
"Hey Evelyn." I said to my girlfriend of 2 years now.
"Who was that girl you just hugged?!" She got straight to the point.
"Just a friend I met ta day." I mentally rolled my eyes.
"Well she better back off of you." She said thinking I didn't hear her.
"I'm aint een her type!" I said getting irritated.
"Oh but she's yours?" She said trying to make me seem like the bad guy.
"Oh my god," I rubbed my hands down my face, "Look ya really startin ta annoy me, Alright?" I walked away from her.
"But baby wait!" She ran after me.
"Nah. Ain't no baybeh wait! Just leave me alone right na." I walked to my car, without letting her respond.
