A shiver runs down my spine. I need to get back to the station now.
I hold myself and can feel my body shaking slightly. As I open the door to my car, I try to asses the situation and come up with any reasons to why this happened. "Maybe it's because of the bite?" I question myself.
A few minuets later I arrive at the station. I grab my stuff and walk in the sliding doors.
Uncomfortably, I rub my arm as I open the door to my office where Pete and Garrison sit. Both of them shift their heads when I walk in. Immediately, they realize something is wrong with me.
Garrison sits up and walks towards me. "What happened Amber?" He asks. I hesitate and stare at his badge. "Officer Jameston Garrison." I read in my mind. Sighing I put my head on his shoulder. He puts his arms around me and rubs my back.
I slump down to the floor and Pete and Garrison follows along. Resting my head in my hands, I begin the story. They nod and make odd facial expressions as I explain what happened.
"I don't know what's happening, nor what I should even do now." I finish shaking my head. Pete hugs me
"It's ok, let's go to the lab and get Aster to help us out." He asures me.
Again I rub my shoulder as we all walk to the lab. I knock on her door. "Come in!" She yells from inside. We walk in and I lift myself on to a table.
"So what's up, Amber?" She says putting her hands on her hips.
"Well I got bit again and whatever bit me, I think, gave me a premintion." I say.
"Really?" She taps her chin. "Never heard of that before, did it leave a mark?"
"Yes, but, it faded within seconds."
"Well I've never heard of any animal, insect, reptilian or even human bites that have actually faded within that amount of time, so I think we can rule out those conclusions."
Right after she tells me that I see the girl again. This time though, she points to the window and then to Aster. Afterwards she looks down at the cylinders containing most likely toxic and lethal liquids. The girl fades again.
Right then, a loud bolt of lighting cracks through the sky outside the window. I plurt out "Aster!" but she is startled by the lightning and jumps, screaming, knocking over the cylinders. Panicking, I run towards her and grab her before she falls over in the pool of broken glass and the mysterious liquids.
We breath in and out heavily and she turns her head towards me. "Did you know that was going to happen?" Aster breaths out. I gulp and nod."Honestly, taking in concideration of the world, do you think you could predict universal events?" Aster coos in a shaky voice.
"So far, I've only had premintions of things close to me, although there is a chance of the premenitions occuring worldwide but that might happen as time passes on. And on the off chance, the premintions disappearing completely. I'm unsure if it's permanent or a temporary thing or how it will develop or of the chance of a decrease in the visions over time." I respond tapping a finger on my temple.
Aster writes down our dialogue on my premenitions so if anything happens maybe we can refer back to our conversation.
Garrison and Pete walk up to us. Garrison pipes up. "Pete and I were talking, and thought we should all have ear pieces. So Amber if you begin to have a premintion you can either call us on your ear piece signaling us what's about to happen, or, if you are unable to talk at the location of the event about to happen you can press a button on the ear piece, again signaling, that something bad is about to happen."
He hands me and ear piece and I put it in my ear. " You do realize that this whole system will probably be abused for commentary, right?" I giggle.
"Most likely, and we'll be walking around talking to eachother and people passing by will think we're talking to God or something.
" Ok. Let's test these things out. Aster you stay here, Amber go into your office and Pete you go into the main hallway. I'll go to the entrance and after everyone gets to their respective places, turn on your ear piece, got it?" Garrison orders.
We all either nod or give a thumbs up and leave. I head over to my office and turned it on.
" Hey peeps!" I call out into my ear piece. Everyone follows up and Pete says to me "Amber press the other button on your ear piece." Boop. "Good. Now that's the other signal if you are unable to tell us the situation at the moment."
"Ok. Gotcha."
" Alright, does anyone have any questions?"
"Negative." "Nope." "Nodda."
"Ok, let's all head back to Amber ' s office."
I hear everyone 3 beeps showing that they turned off their ear pieces.
After that I turn mine off and take it out. I put it in my front pocket and sit down on my chair.
Mentally, I prepare myself for casual banter from Garrison as they walk in.
All of them sit in front of my desk and position themselves comfortably.
Garrison starts again "I programmed each piece with a sound to represent that if one is disconnected, offline or broken it makes a ding. If that happens the chip in the ear piece itself should repair itself with in a few minuets unless completely shattered or the chip is removed. Only you should be able to hear each sound so if you're around people, they won't hear it. The piece is waterproof but may slow connection slightly causing delayed messages, or noises that don't represent the usual actions. Hopefully this shouldn't be a problem. Although I don't think there are any other disclaimers but if you discover a new one and I will see if I can upgrade the chip in it." He finishes.
Aster and I ask a few questions concering about how the chip and the piece works. Afterwards though, there isn't much more to be said about the piece so Aster heads back to the lab and the rest of us continue the investagation.
I pick up a few lemon colored folders a rummage through a stack of papers and plop them on my desk. I sigh and get started.
