"Oh my god, Troye, what happened?!" Troye's mum asked him as soon as he walked in.
"Mum, it's nothing," he mumbled, trying to step around her to get to his room.
She stepped in his way.
"Please tell me, Troye. This obviously isn't just 'nothing'," she pleaded, and he sighed.
"I got punched. Like I said, it's nothing," he said, trying to get to his room once more. She did the same thing.
"Who was the person that punched you?" She asked. Wow, she worries a bit too much about me sometimes. But I mean, she's my mum, so it's okay.
"Mum, please. Can we just leave it? I'm fine," he said, looking up at her. He didn't look fine, and he knew it. His cheek was still red and a little bruised from being punched. But it was only a little bit.
She sighed. "Fine. But next time, I'm not going to just drop it," she said, moving out of the way, walking away.
He walked to his room, shutting the door behind him and then putting his things on his bed. He sighed. He glanced into his mirror. The redness had gone away, but it was still a little bruised.
It still hurt to touch, too, so he decided not to touch it.
He heard his phone go off, startling him a bit as it broke through the silence. He looked over to his phone.
Tyler Oakley
He answered the call, bringing the phone to his ears.
~~~
"What do you have against him??" Troye asked Tyler.
"Oh I don't know, maybe the fact that you're falling in love with him? He's the fucking player of the school. He goes from person to person easily!"
"I can fall in love with whoever I want to, you're not my mum!" He said, and Tyler sighed.
"You're right, I'm not and I can't make you do anything. I'm just trying to protect you, make sure you don't get hurt," Tyler admitted. "I'm your best friend. That's my job as your best friend. To protect you."
"Tyler, it's my choice if I want to get hurt or not. I understand that you're trying to help and protect me, but I like him, and if I want to get in a relationship with him then so be it," Troye said, quieting his voice a bit.
"Fine, whatever. Don't listen to me and get hurt. But when you finally realize how much of a fool you'll be to attempt it like I did, then you'll have wanted to take my advice," Tyler said rather coldly.
They hardly ever fought. This was a rare occasion happening right now. Troye didn't like it when they fought. He was scared of losing his best friend. His first best friend since he moved here. And, as it seems, his only best friend right now.
"Tyler, no, I am listening and keeping it in mind! It's just-"
"It's just what, Troye? Just that you're too in love with him that you can't just take my advice?!"
Troye was silent for a moment.
"How dare you even say that," Troye said very quietly, slightly hurt by Tyler's statement. As much as he'd like to deny it, it was sad to admit that it was true. But it still hurt him to hear it being said out loud.
By his own best friend.
"Oh come on, you can't tell me that it isn't true! I know you know it's true!"
"Why are you trying to keep me away from him anyways? I mean, other than what you're telling me."
Tyler scoffed. "Troye, come on. I've told you this - I was with him once. I thought we were a cute and happy couple but then he suddenly left me. He's done that to so many people. He left them, and me, heartbroken. Don't think he won't do the same to you. He's a badass, and only shows off his crap to impress people he tries to reel in. It's like a mind game he tries to play with you. I already know how it's going to go - he's going to get you to fall in love with him, he's going to pretend to love you, and then he's going to leave you. I'm trying to protect you, Troye, why can't you see this?!"
"I am seeing it, Ty! And you've told me that a billion times, it's the same thing every time! And you don't know for a fact that he'll do that to me for sure, I could be different."
"Whatever, Troye. Listen to me or don't. I'm only trying to help you so you don't get hurt. But fine, go right ahead and get hurt. I don't give a shit anymore. Don't come crawling to me once he breaks your heart." And with that being said, Tyler abruptly hung up.
Troye groaned in frustration. He just wanted to throw his phone across the room at the wall, but luckily he had enough self-control to not do that.
Why couldn't Tyler just understand? Troye has never had a crush or a relationship before, so it would be his own fault if he wanted to get hurt. He understood the fact that Tyler was only trying to protect him, he really did.
Connor's just driving me wild. Just... When he looks like that, I can't resist. And now I've fallen too in love with him, it hurts me that Tyler's trying to pry me away from him. I just can't turn away from Connor no matter how many times Tyler tries to warn me. It's just making my head spin, my heart ache. It's driving me so wild.
Troye sighed, running a hand through his hair, setting his phone down. He didn't know what to do anymore. He had two options; to listen to his best friend, Tyler, or fall in love with a near-total stranger who may possibly break his heart but is ultra-cute.
God, it was so impossible to him.
