The frequent doctor appointments was exciting for Zei. She had a little being growing insid.e her. That little thing was her life. It was a dint of memory. The good times she had with Ahmad. Her family viewed her as a Saif manipulated lady but she had her mom's support and that was all she needed.
As much as years had gone by,she could not let Ahmad go. She was a full grown woman now and she needed to settle down. She had a check for her good education and her success on business, but Zei was not ready to open up to life. The wounds were still fresh. She was not over Ahmad yet and that was how she wanted it to be.

"My dear daughter, you need to get married after you see through your pregnancy" Her mom suggested one evening

Such discussions is what Zei avoided as the mood was always grim. She felt suffocated anytime the topic came up.
It was a taboo enough to have a child out of wedlock but what was worse was having a mature daughter in the family.
Zei was too liberal to dwell on such and she dismissed it as petty woman talks.
Her mom though was still bound by tradition and was ready to erase the mistake as early as possible.

"Zei habibty, men are lining up and proposals are non-stop..why dont you give it a thought? "Her mom went on.
"If anything you need a father figure for your unborn child and some support in your quick growing business "

Indeed mom had some point Zei thought to herself. She was not any bit growing younger and with the passing time,it was quiet evident that Ahmad was never coming back.

"Ok ummi ma,i will surely think of our small talk and give you feedback in sha Allah" and with that she stood and walked out.

Zei's mom was nervous enough. The pressure was growing since most women in her circle saw their daughters married. She had nothing much to say when such stories came up in their meetings at the nearby coffee house.

Zei on the other hand dropped on her bed and had a good cry. She did not want anyone to see her weakness. Her eyes were sore and hurting. Her inside crumpled she could feel the wound, even touch it.
She did not understand why Ahmad would never call her.
Dint he know she had his baby? Did he not know of her success. The whole Africa knew of Saif limited. They even appeared in Forbes! Not once not twice.
She knew something was not going well. She now had every reason to doubt Ahmad's sudden distance and silence.
She felt unworthy and not beautiful for a minute but being the strong willed woman she had always been, she decided to give her mind a break.
It was true, she really needed to go back into the market for a good catch.
She had to do something about her loneliness.
Her unborn 3 month baby needed a father-figure. She had to find one.
Not through the traditional matchmaking her tradition dictated but on her own.
She just knew what to do!.

Online dating was the thing.
She signed up for the greatest online dating site in her community.
She needed tips so she called Amina up. Her closest updated fashionable lady friend. She was always on trend and was always at Zei's rescue.

"Hello Amina,its Zei!"

"Hey Zei,how is the going?although i pretty well know you need some tips on improving yourself "

"Totally! " zei squealed from the other end

"Meet me at our normal base then"Amina added.

"See you there at six p.m today" zei closed the conversation.

She hang up the phone and hurriedly dashed into the shower. She did her make-up nicely and wore her best of clads. Although it made no difference because her friend Amina would still criticise her dress code.
She always did that but who cares.
In zei's defence Amina wasn't going through a love-life crisis like zei so that explained her rough skin and eye bags due to sleepless nights.
It was tough! Zei sighed.

She arrived at Ruby cafe ten minutes earlier. Being in the business world trained her in observing punctuality so that explained why.

As expected Amina arrived half an hour later. And save you the story. She was away doing her nails! Really? ??
But it was Amina anyway so no one blamed her much, and if she took that long dressing up,it was worth the time.
She looked real good which made Zei feel like a fourty year old.

After talking of work and family,Zei got to the point.

"Look Amina. You know i have been single for like forever and its time i get back to market" zei gushed the words quickly.
Amina was astonished and looked back at her in awe.
Dont get her wrong but Zei was the I-am-busy-with-work kinda ladies and that was the least Amina thought of.
She wore her ego and lady pride up her sleeves and gave no second to dudes.

"Are you pranking me or you actually serious about getting back to market?" Amina asked to just confirm the seriousness of her friend. This was a new side of her she had yet to see.

"Am serious Amina and am here to ask for tips"Zei added.

After digesting the information, she looked up at her friend Zei. She had lost weight and she looked all pale. It dawned on her that she had actually gone through alot. All she could do was give her a warm hug and assured her she was with her in all this.
The girls got to work.

"Zei,you need to first love yourself and be happy. You need to watch what you eat as much as you are pregnant"

"Am following "Zei commented.

"Next is that your dating profile should be appealing as possible. Include all your hobbies and put up a nice cute recent picture. Be honest enough to avoid future problems incase you meet the right guy"

Ooh goodness, Amina is so good at this she should consider being a relationship consultant zei thought loudly to herself.

"Are you following! "She snapped her fingers in front of my face.
I jolted back to reality.

We agreed to take a nice picture of me and we finished setting up the profile. It was as appealing as possible any guy would fall for it.
Although zei's situation was explained, that she was pregnant. That was enough to call onto serious men only. Not laymen.
************************************

From dusk to dawn
She always had to mourn

Mourn the death of a living being
Mourn the death of her missing heart.

She used to view life through a beautiful mirror
It was cut-short and the mirror smashed.

Regardless of the pain
Regardless of the ache

The pain she endured to walk over the broken glass
The blood that dripped

She had to look up and dust herself Someday her strength will pay off the prize!
