"And here is your room!" Abby said, as she led me into a big bedroom. It was huge compared to my old room, which was basically a closet."Sorry it's so small, but all the others were taken." I was confused for a minute as to why she thought it was small, but just ignored it.
"Here are some pj's you can wear, and some clothes for tomorrow." Rebeca said, placing some clothes on the bed.
"And the bathroom is the door right there. Now, we will leave you to get changed." Abby said, grabbing Rebecca's arm and dragging her to the door.
"Wait."
They turned and looked at me, confused that I had something to say.
"Um, thank you. You know, for letting me stay here." I said. I still refused to show them emotion, but it was a friendly gesture. They smiled at me.
"You're welcome!" They said and closed the door as they left.
I grabbed the pj's they left for me. They were black pajama pants and a gray t-shirt. I removed my former clothes and slipped on the pants, then the t-shirt. They were soft and comfy. I never really had pajamas, I would always sleep in the same clothes I wore that day. So this was a big change.
I placed my old clothes on the bed and looked around the room. The walls were a dark gray color, the same as the bed comforter. There was a small bookshelf in the corner, lined with lots of different books. The carpet had a cream color and was soft on my bare feet.
I walked over to the bathroom. I looked into the mirror and was disgusted. My black hair was in nots and was sticking out all over the place. I had dark circles under my eyes. And you could see the bruise forming on my left cheek.
I was a wreck.
I fixed my black eye patch so you couldn't see it and brushed my hair. I walked out of the room and began looking for one of the girls. I heard talking in the living room.
"So then, she immediately said no. I was like, what? I was so confused. But then Abby asked her why, and she said because. So then she asked her again, and she finally said yes! And now here we are!" I heard Nick tell the end of his story.
"Dude, you need to work on your story telling skills." Garret said.
"What! No I don't!" Nick argued
They began arguing about nothing and that's when I walked in. I found everyone laying on the floor talking to each other, well the boys were more yelling. But when they saw me walk in, all talking stopped.
"Um, I was wondering if one of the girls could help me turn on the shower?" I said. One of my hands was holding the doorway while the other was hanging by my side.
I took this as a chance to get a good look at Garret and Evan.
Garret had bleach blonde hair and nice hazel eyes. He was tall, but not as tall as Evan. Evan had dark brown hair, he had bright blue eyes that you could get lost in if you don't look away fast enough. Luckily, i did.
"Oh, right, I'll come help!" Abby said, jolting up from her spot on the floor.
Everyone went back to talking, except Evan, who looked at me for a few more seconds, before returning. Abby ran past me, telling me to follow. Which I did.
We went back to my room and she showed me how to turn the shower on and off, and how to change the temperature.
"Thank you." I tell her. She smiles and nods at me. But she didn't leave yet.
"Hey, um, can I ask you something?" She said.
"Sure." I say back.
"If it's to personal then you don't have to answer. But, um, why were you sleeping on a park bench?" She asked hopefully.
I knew they were going to ask again, but I didn't think so soon. But if I didn't tell her, then I knew someone else would ask, and it would be easier to just tell her now. I sigh in defeat.
"I was kicked out of my house. But that's all I'm telling." I say to her, hoping that's all she wanted to know. She smiled at me.
"Thank you, for telling me." She said, before she walked out and closed the door.
I sigh and lock the bathroom door. I take my pj's off and my eye patch. The warm water hits my cold, pale skin as I step into the shower. I haven't had a shower in forever. It's very relaxing.
I wash my hair and everything else, then turn the water off. My hands feel around for the towel on the towel rack. I finally find it and wrap myself in its warmth.
I dry off, throw on my pj's again, dry my hair, tie on my eye patch again, and walk over to the bed. I'm so exhausted. Today has been crazy, I just want to go to sleep.
I collapse on the bed and pull the covers over oh my head. It was always hard for me to sleep. But now it is going to be ten times harder now, knowing that my dad is out there still. He is probably looking for me to. He thinks I'm coming back this time. Well, I'm not.
Tomorrow I'm going to get up, and start looking for a job.
