Cecilia

I stare straight into the man's eyes that had once hurt my own client.

My hand picks up the black phone and he gives me a confused look.

"I-I'm sorry, I don't know who you are," Brent says into his phone. "you must have the wrong-"

"God, I hate how much she was forced to keep from you," I say.

"Who? Skye?"

"Yes," I mutter. "I'm her therapist. I only came here to figure more out on why this all happened."

"She had met someone," he doesn't hesitate to tell me. Was she cheating? "she wasn't cheating but something inside me just snapped. I feel terrible; like they should've sentenced me to death instead of behind bars."

"No, your crime wasn't serious enough," I tell him. "you shouldn't be thinking like that. I think getting everything out will help you with this."

He takes a deep breath before speaking. "Okay, Skye had met a guy and I got so jealous and angry and I thought that doing the same as what she used to do would be right."

"What about this guy made you so mad?"

"They were so close and the worse and worse I got the more she started hanging out with him."

"She told me that you said sweet things about her when she was gone," I speak. "is that true?"

"Yes, it is," Brent replies.

"Why?"

"I was so scared of nothing but everything all at once and I can't explain why it was that I had been so scared of," he explains.

"You were afraid of rejection," I suggest.

"How? I already had her."

"If you had told her all those nice things when you were already hurting her then it probably wouldn't have gone over too well."

"Yeah, that's true," he says into the phone before I get told that my time with him is up. I thank Brent for being so cooperative and stand up, slinging it over my shoulder.

I step out into the snowy city of Detroit and pass by a group of people smoking cigarettes. A few men stare at me and I roll my eyes, trying to ignore it. My eyes get blinded by a car's lights shining in my face and I accidentally bump into someone.

"Shoot, sorry," I mumble and they give me a look. I groan and hurry past them.

Once I reach the building, I have ten minutes left until my only appointment of today; Skye.

The elevator ride seems longer than it should and I find myself beginning to get impatient. I press the number of my office's floor. The other person in the elevator looks at me, amused, and moves her black hair out of her pale face.

"Stressful morning?" she asks me.

"You have no idea," I reply, taking a deep breath. "I'm Cecilia, by the way."

"Paige," she shakes my hand, smiling. "it's nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too."
