"and we came back to work... because?" i ask.

jack shrugs, tossing his black pen on the wooden desk.

"there really wasn't a point because it's thursday." he chuckles.

i point an accusing finger at him, "i could've went home. better yet, i could've been at the mall shopping. i've saved up a lot of money to treat myself."

"do you want to go to the mall now?" he raises an eyebrow. "i'll drive you."

"what a gentleman." i swoon.

i stand up from my seat and so does he. i gather my things and he patiently waits for me.

"are you sure you want to go in that dress?" he asks me.

"shut up, jack." i playfully smack his shoulder. "there's nothing wrong with it."

"actually, it's showing a lot of-"

"i don't want to hear it." i shake my head and laugh.

he walks next to me as we make our way to the first floor. many people greet him and one of those many people is alexa.

"good afternoon, mr. gilinsky." she smiles to him.

he nods to her, acknowledging her presence, "good afternoon, alexa. i'm going to be out for the rest of the day."

"but didn't you just get here?" she tilts her head, confused.

"yes, but i'm very busy." he lies, looking down at me for a second.

we resume our walking and alexa flashes me a dirty look. she shouldn't be bothering me anymore, but she does and i want her out of the building.

"you know, she came to me while you were getting my coffee yesterday." jack tells me. "said you were harassing her once again."

i shoot him a smirk, "that may be true."

he shakes his head with a smile and opens the passenger side for me to get in. i fix my dress when i sit down and jack shuts my door and gets into the drivers side.

"what do you plan on buying?" he asks me.

"makeup, clothes, undergarments. you know, the basics."

he snorts, "no, i don't know."

"that's probably cause you don't have to buy your own things."

he feigns being offended, "i do have to buy my own things if you must know."

i raise my eyebrows, "sure." i drag out.

"buy this." jack holds up a thin and flimsy baby pink bra with sparkles all over it.

maybe i shouldn't have let him tag along with me into victoria's secret. he's touching everything he can get his hands on and he's staring at all of the women on the walls and in real life.

"no, because there's absolutely no support. it's just mesh." i reply.

"i think that's the point, kehlani." he narrows his eyes at me like the know-it-all he is.
