Edward left shortly after that, the fire dying down shortly after. Anthea sat in the darkness alone, the smell of ash and death suffocating her. Everything burned and screamed as her soulmate disappeared off back to his soulmate and child.
Ever since they had met, all Anthea wanted was to be Edward's everything, his reason for existence because that's what he was for her. And for too short of a time, she was, she was his and she had never been so content. But then she was reluctantly selfless and gave up her happiness. Something she would never get back.
1931, New York.
A loud crash resonated around the lavish hotel room as the male vampire pushed the goddess brunette up against the wall with an inhumane amount of force that left cracks in the marble. Their lips smashed loudly against each other, a fire dancing across their skin as they clawed at each other.
Anthea let out a soft moan as Edward began to deliciously torture her neck, heightened brain hazed over with nothing but pleasure and desire. His marble lips glided over her smooth skin, whispering small adoring words that she only picked up every other second though she murmured back similar ones. They were perfectly locked together only seconds later, consumed with each other as they had always been.
He smiled at the goddess like women beside him, hand softly caressing her cheek as he stared at her . "You do know that I love you?"
"I do believe you've mentioned it before." She mused, a look of playful contemplation on her face as if she were thinking back to one of the countless times Edward had reminded her of his feelings for her. "How about you? Do you know that I love you?"
"I believe I recall you speaking of such things, though I think I might need to be reminded at least once more."
"Oh only once, does that mean if I say I love you that I can leave?" She inquired, ruby eyes following her sharply nailed finger that was currently tracing the outline of his chest.
"Perhaps." He shrugged with little to no interest, his statement causing Anthea to lift her head from his chest and for their gazes to meet.
Her red tinted lips pulled up into a smile as she lowered them down to his, their mouths brushing softly as she formed the words she had repeated so many times. "I love you Edward Masen Cullen, with my entire existence."
"You do know I was joking when I said you could leave, correct?" Edward inquired, his gaze fixated on his mate who was currently making her way around the room, searching for an article of clothing that had yet to be torn apart. She settled on a black coat that she pulled directly over her bare flesh and buttoned tightly up.
"Well I was not and I do believe I held up my side of the bargain, so I must be off now." She tutted, turning towards the door to take her leave.
Before she could take another step in the direction of the exit, her mate was in front of her. A crocked smile on his perfectly structured face. "I unfortunately can not allow you to leave."
"I'm just going for a drink Eddie; I won't be gone for long."
He pouted, "But I'll miss you so."
"I'll be back soon. I promise." She assured, pressing a swift kiss to his lips before making her way around him.
New York was one of the best hunting grounds due to the endless amount of people and the constant bustle which made it easy to pick out anyone for a quick bite. It was why Anthea had moved them here after their rampage in Chicago were beginning to draw too much attention.
"Anthea."
Instantly, her fangs left the skin of the pretty blonde girl she once had pressed against the wall but was now laying in a lump against the alley's floor. She turned her head to see the familiar face of Carlisle Cullen, her love's adoptive father and creator.
"Carlisle what a pleasant surprise." She purred, wiping the remaining blood drop her lips.
"I've come to warn you that you and Edward are endanger. And I think it's best that you let him go."
"Excuse me," She scoffed, "And why would I ever do that?"
"It has never been my intention to come between you two as you are mates, but-"
"-Then don't." She stated flatly, cutting him off before he could continue.
"-But," He repeated, seemingly unhindered by her rude interruption."I plead for you to think about what is best for Edward."
"I have never made Edward do anything that he didn't want to do." She reminded blatantly, ruby eyes filling with more rage with every step. "Also, you have no authority over me Carlisle; I'm not part of your breed." She snarled before walking past him, bumping her shoulder as she went.
"Anthea, I know perfectly well that Edward is happy with you. But he's also in danger when he is with you. I'm sure you're aware that anyone you're associated with becomes a target. The Volturi have caught wind of where you are and that you have a mate. What do think they'll do to Edward if you are caught?"
The brunette froze, mind reeling over the many forms of torture that would be forced upon her love if he was in fact discovered with her. It was unlikely that they could both run from them. She had been able to do it for the last few centuries because she was alone always alone. Together, they were both at risk. He would be lucky if Aro only set Jane on him if they were caught.
The backs of her eyes began to burn as they attempted to be human and allow tears to pool into her vision. "If I do this, you have to promise me something."
"Anything." Rosalie assured her instantly.
"You'll make sure that you never think of this again; that he'll never find out about what I'm about to do."
"Of course."
"You'll have your son back within the hour."
"Anthea, please don't do this." Edward pleaded helplessly, struggling against the hold of his love who was currently keeping him still. "Please; I love you. We can make it through this. I love you."
She wanted to agree with him, to be selfish and allow him to stay. But she knew that she could never be selfish when it came to him. "I'm so sorry Edward."
Anthea couldn't even watch as they red mist leaked reluctantly out of palms and was inhaled by Edward's mind. She wanted to scream as it twisted painfully around every love filled moment, burning it to the point that there was nothing but hatred left. It set every one of Edward's memories of him being in love with her on fire. And just like that, the love was gone, hatred easily taking its place.
"You monster," Edward snarled, proving that her work was finished. "You've ruined me; taken me from everything I know. You're the devil."
"Yes Edward; I'm the devil. Which is why I'm setting you free. Because an angel could never be in love with a devil."
NOW YOU KNOW, THAT NO ONE HAS EVER LOVED ANYONE AS MUCH AS ANTHEA LOVES EDWARD. PLEASE COMMENT YOUR THOUGHTS.
