(Maya's POV)

I was on our dusty, old couch with my brother, Cameron. He is, like me in eighth grade and has a never ending crush on Riley. Riley likes him too and she constantly talks about him, but because I like to watch people suffer I didn't tell Cameron or Riley that they liked each other. Cameron is a very shy, smart, boy who is very tech savvy and will do anything to get Riley's attention.
"Why are you on Riley's Instagram." I asked him glancing at the laptop that I needed to do my school project on.
"Because I followed her and she liked bunch of my photos so I'm liking her's back." He said in his high pitched lying voice.
"I checked and you don't follow her on Instagram. How did you even access her account because her parents made her set it to private." I asked expecting an honest response but that is not what I got.
" She turned it off."
" No she didn't. I know Riley better than she knows herself. She would never defy her parents like that."
"Well, she turned it off." He said in his lying voice again.
I glanced at the top right corner of the screen and noticed he was on my profile!
" You dirty, little liar you are on my profile. " He completely ignored me and kept looking through her photos. I had no choice. I took this recording of Riley once when she knocked on our apartment, so I walked over to the door and casually sat on the couch next to the door. I found the file on my phone. After 3 knocks you heard it's Riley. My brother ran to the door and I just sat there as he slowly shut the door to find that his Princess was not at the door.
"Where did she go?" He asked trying not to show that he cared to much, but I could see that he did.
"It was a recording of her." I smiled as I told him this an I watched his face light up with flames. He marched over an told me I was an idiot then he went back to the laptop to stalk her.
"I need that laptop for school." I told him, but really I was going to private message Lucas about what had just happened. That's what I always did because he once caught me teasing my brother and found out that Cameron loved Riley. I looked at my brother and we both pinned him down to the ground like a pin going into a bulletin board. We made him swear to never tell Riley and we finally convinced him to not tell Princess Riley. Cameron doesn't know that Lucas knows everything that he has done to get Riley's attention.
"So I see you have been private messaging Lucas." He said ready to tease me about him. No, he could not find out that I liked him. I bit my lip as I said in the voice I had used to tell Lucas that I didn't want him to get all conceded.
" What EWWWW I don't like him" I blushed
" Your checks say otherwise."
" Fine I like him a little bit. Are you going to tell him cause if you are I will pin you down just like we did to Lucas?"
" I knew it I had known it all along."
" Oh, shut up." I said as I lightly hit him on the shoulder.
" When did you first start liking him?" He asked. I first started liking him when I was on the subway with Riley.
" When he pulled me close during detention and stared at me with his beautiful eyes," I lied. That time my low lying voice was gone so I would probably get way with it. I kept thinking about how he had almost kissed my face at the campfire in Texas. I wished in that one second he started pushing my face away in fear I would have grabbed Huckleberry's face and passionately kissed him, then he would know how I felt. I couldn't tell him now though. It was to late. I would have to wait until he showed his liking for me again.
" Earth to Maya." Knocking on my head and in my ear I heard,
"Is anyone home? No, okay then, I'm going to bed Ms.Friar."
I snapped out of my daze and yelled,
"Don't call me that!"
I had to go to school tomorrow, but at least that meant I could talk to Lucas about what happened minus the part about me liking him that would be awkward. I private messaged him about what had happened on the laptop. I made sure to log off so that Cameron couldn't stalk Riley or more importantly see my discussion with Lucas.  I thought about Lucas and stalked him a little bit on the internet making sure to not accidentally like one of his photos from when he was in fifth grade. He was such a cute fifth grader! I checked on my phone and didn't get response from him, but it was Midnight so what did I expect.
