Mark's P.O.V

"Mark!" Arelana screamed. I knew I had to do something but I had no idea how. The dogs were getting closer now and if they reached us then without a doubt we'd be dead. "Mark please, I'm scared....!" Arelana cried. "I know... I-I'm sorry Arelana." I whispered "He said that someone was facing one of their darkest fears, what was it...!?" She asked. "I was so set on finding your sister...... But I was afraid we wouldn't get there in time... I-I wanted to stop everything... It's all my fault.." I reply looking down. "N-No Mark, it's not. I understand.. We will get her back.." Arelana said shakily. I couldn't let her get hurt because of me, I already lost her, her sister. The dogs started running towards us. "Arelana there's something else." I stammered. "Yes?" She cried. "I don't know why but I am absolutely terrified of loosing you." Suddenly everything was quiet. No dogs, no yelling, just Arelana and I steadily breathing. "M-M..." I heard Arelana squeak. "W-Where did they go...?"

"Don't know... But let's get the hell out before they come back.." I mutter as I pull her along to an empty store. "What are we doing here..?" She questioned. "We need to look for the next clue." Arelana rolled her eyes. "Dark was the clue."

"How. All he said about Darcy was that she was safe." I say. "Hmm. True. My God I'm tired, I don't think I've slept in three days." She yawned.

" 'Lana, if you're that tired, we can rest.."

"N-No... I'll rest when I find Darce." She mumbled. I sighed loudly. " 'Lana."

I smile widely as Dark returns. "Have fun taking care those 'intruders'?" I ask. Dark shrugged. "Meh, I guess you could say that."
He said, motioning to the large cut slashed across his cheek

"Oh my god.... Are you okay?" I run over and begin to look over his face the same way he did to me. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine.." He mumbled as a thick liquid seeped through his grey skin.

"You're... B-Bleeding.. Wh-What happened..?" Dark turned away from me. "The intruders.."

"I'll...I'll kill 'em... Where are they.." I immediately walk away from him and look around.

"Relax. They're gone.."

"They still hurt you." I reply with puppy dog eyes.
Cocking his head to the side, he said "So?"

"So you're like taking care of me. You're all I have right now. You've done a lot for me. I could at least return the favor." I say.

It was true. Dark has been extremely protective and nice. I can't believe I've only known him for a few days. Weird thing is, I don't even remember the people before him. My family.. My sister.. What was her name? Anna? No.. Lana? Something like that. Whatever. She's nothing. Dark's my family now. Together we'll conquer all.

"I'm glad you think that." Dark said.

"Huh?"

"I heard your thoughts." He placed his index finger on his temple. "Oh yeah... Keep forgetting that.." I crossed my arms slightly and looked away.

Arelana's P.O.V.

I felt the hot tears urging to get out. I hate crying in front of people. "I-I'm sorry... I shouldn't have even let you help me.."

Mark held me close. I could hear his soft heartbeat as I sniffled lightly. "Lana. Please don't cry.. I promise we'll find her.. Promise. Here.. Let's sit down.." He said, pulling me down with him. My will power to stay awake was quickly diminished, he was so warm and protective. 'Holy shit' I thought. 'Am I falling for Mark?'. "Mark aside from the fact that we're racing to save my sister from a demon who looks just like you and will most likely kill her if we're too late, these last two days have been the most exciting of my life." Mark looked at me with a goofy grin, "Go to sleep, you weirdo." he laughed. I looked down embarrassed, but he placed his hand on my cheek and pulled my face up towards his. "I don't know what you're thinking, but I've been wanting to do this all day." He whispered. He leaned in and caressed my cheek before kissing me. I didn't know how to feel. Happy? Surprised? I wrapped my hand around his neck and kissed him back. When we pulled apart, I looked into his brown eyes slightly dazed, and whispered, "Me too..."

Darcy's P.O.V.

That night I dreamt of a girl. She seemed familiar.. I can't put my finger on who she is. She had a deep ginger hair color. Fair skin. Freckles splattered across her face and shoulders. She was sleeping, so I couldn't see her eyes. But it was who she was sleeping on that freaked me out the most..

He looked like...

Dark

Except... He was colorful...

He wore a red plaid looking shirt, black converse, dark blue jeans. His eyes were brown as he looked at the girl with a small smile on his face. His skin was a deep toned ivory as he played with her hair. That should be me.. It made me angry in the strangest way. I woke quickly and ran to Dark's room. I tip-toed inside and stood hesitantly over him, biting my knuckle as I reached for his shoulder. "Dark? Wake up." I said. Dark turned over in his sleep. Great.

Dark's P.O.V.

I heard the girl mumble to herself as she crawled into the other side of the bed. "S-So uhm.." she sniffled. "I had a dream a-about a girl... and a guy who looked j-just like you.. I was s-so mad.. at him.. because he was holding h-her..." I smirked. She's mad at him? Perfect. The poor girl shifted on her side and continued her sniffling. It seems she was sobbing at this point. I rolled over and embraced her in a fatherly-like fashion.

Everything's going according to plan..

Arelana's P.O.V.

The next morning I woke up on Mark's chest. His arms were around me and we were both under a makeshift blanket of tarp, I can only assume he found after I fell asleep. It must have froze over last night because a light layer of frost was covering everything. I shivered and pressed into his torso trying to get warm. He rolled over on his side and pulled me in, "Please tell me it's not morning." he grunted. I laughed scooting away from him to get up. "Ill take that as a yes." We stood up and stretched "Well it certainly is brighter today." I said squinting looking out the front doors at our car. "Maybe that's a good thing." Mark said. "I hope so because I have no idea where were suppose to go from here."

"I do." Mark said looking down at the floor. He had his arms crossed and pressed against his chest like the thought of where we had to go hurt him. "Mark what is it? Are you OK?" I said moving closer touching his shoulder. "I'm fine, but go to the bathroom before we leave, its going to be a long drive." I didn't ask questions, just grabbed my things and headed to the nearest restroom. Once inside I let the memories from yesterday come back. The fear of near death, the chill down my spine when Dark touched my cheek, it was almost overwhelming. I gripped the counter as hot tears stung my eyes, my saving grace was last night, I lightly touched my lips where Marks has been just hours ago. I didn't know how to feel about the thought that Mark and I liked each other. If I was to face reality I knew that there would be no way to explain 'us' to my parents, the world that would celebrate the day we'd bring Darcy home. There was no way, but that didn't matter to me right now. I would still give up anything to have Darcy home again. I wiped the tears from my eyes and headed for the car.

Marks P.O.V.

I felt like an idiot. I gripped the steering wheel tighter as I replayed Dark's words in my head from last nights dream. "You acted on an impulse and began something with Arelana that wont make any sense to the rest of the world without a full explanation, and I know you want to keep me a secret." He kept smiling at me like he had all ready won, and I guess when I thought about it, he had. If we couldn't save Darcy and she died Arelana would be devastated i'd be loosing them both. If we saved Darcy though and life returned to normal, Arelana and I would never really get to be together. Either way I loose something. I snapped out of it as Arelana approached the car, "ready to go?" I chirped, trying to sound light-hearted. "Yep... to where though?" she asked. I laughed pulling out of the parking lot. "Cincinnati Ohio, baby!" I yelled. She laughed reclining the seat to lay down for a bit longer. I looked at her then focused on the road ahead. Out of the corner of my eye though, leaning up against the outer wall of the mall, I thought I saw... no it couldn't be. I quickly dismissed the thought and focused on Darcy.
