[Flashback way year 2003]
My Bittersweet Sophomore days.....
The majestic sun was spreading its bright rays far and wide, making me uneasily flinch a little bit while fanning my hands infront of my face and adjusting my shirt. We just finished practicing for the first batch, it's for our street dance presentation in celebration of our school festival.
"You're doing great, guys! Let's all take our lunch break first and then we'll continue practicing at one-thirty." Miss Wrigley, the PE teacher, announced over the school PA system, all of a sudden the students hurried out of the main gate as if they're running for their lives. Everybody feels the same way for Miss Wrigley, she's very strict and a perfectionist too. She's like the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler, and everybody's afraid of her.
Every word that comes out of her mouth is so powerful that nobody dared to defy her. Even though PE isn't considered a major subject especially for students with Computer Science degree, she made sure that her subject won't be the same as the rest of the minor subjects. Like what she made her students do these past few weeks, they've been busy perfecting the street dance presentation for the incoming school festival. Thankfully, Miss Wrigley isn't as strict and perfectionist nowadays unlike before when they were still in the first weeks of practice where they totally coped up with the steps. Maybe because they were showing all their best and did all sorts of effort for the sake of their presentation.
Everyone rushed to the nearest canteen, lounge, or eatery. It's past one o' clock already and they must be back at one-thirty or else Miss Wrigley will feed them to the sharks, metaphorically speaking.
"Minzy, look! It's him at 3 o' clock!" Vera, my friend since highschool and currently college batchmate, pouted her lips pointing to someone straight across their table. I felt my heart was about to jump off my chest, even though I didn't turn my head to look, by heart I already knew who it was -- my ultimate crush since my freshman days up to my current year as a sophomore, Aian Galleje.
Suddenly, a little commotion started the moment Aian and his four other friends entered the canteen. Girls screamed while others became frantic as these five young juniors approached their table. Boys suddenly became protective of their girlfriends while others wished to be as popular as them.
I couldn't help feeling jealous whenever I see Aian talking with other girls, especially when it's so obvious that they are only flirting on him. But what can I do? I can't even dare look whenever he's upclose, not even a short glimpse. The first time I saw him was when I was still a freshman. I always notice him and his four other friends passing by the lab during Chemistry class, and everytime he passes by, I silently stare at him in my seat and pray that he'll look my way but it didn't really happen anyway.
Any hopeless romantic would believe it could be destiny, it so happened that Aian took the same PE schedule as mine and now he's included in the street dance presentation. Every wednesday morning before 7:00 , I'm already in the gym with my classmates getting ready for our PE class. I always see to it that I arrive early, and then silently waits for him to arrive. But when he does, I pretend to not notice him or I look down and read a pocketbook, pretending to focus but actually I just stare at the words unable to move on to the next page. Silly, because I'm not actually reading!
He always have that effect on her. Though he's just passing by, my heart screams with glee. Sometimes I'm having dreams about him, and I find myself smiling sweetly the moment I wake up. Cinderella once said that a dream is a wish your heart makes, no matter how your heart is grieving if you keep believing, the dream that you wish will come true. But we are living in the real world, and reality isn't just any happily ever after. Reality hurts, that's a fact and I already accepted the truth that Aian will never ever notice me nor feel the same towards me.
