A loud bang on the table echoed throughout the headquarters. My headquarters. This had been the fifth time my group failed miserably on their mission and it's very disappointing.
I wonder could've gotten in their little brains to fail like that. We were known in the city as the most dangerous, the stealthiest, and the most fearless. How could they possibly fail like that?
"This is very... I don't know. It's just different. Very different from our last mission," I half-whispered, half-sighed while rubbing my temples.
"I am not this forgiving on my first days, but since we need to complete this mission badly, I'm giving you guys another chance-"
Howls and cheers made the room lively again. I didn't even finish the sentence but they were all ecstatic to restart and play the game again. The silent aura earlier was replaced by a positive one. After a few moments, I raised my hand, telling them to quiet down.
"One more thing before preparing for the mission for the sixth time. A simple reminder that we are still the Forces of Nature and I am merciless. And I am not going to change my mind once she has taken over. Understand?"
A loud chorus of yes reverberated up to the hallways and I was glad she wasn't here. Or else she would be cutting heads right now. She doesn't want failure, neither do I. But I am less brutal though, and that is a good thing.
They quickly reloaded their ammos and fixed their tuxedos. As much as possible, I would like my gang to look classy amidst the rumors that we were murderers. Well, we aren't, she is. And I totally hate her.
As soon as everyone was out, I called the Boss a.k.a. the Lorax. I don't have any idea why he would like to be called that. Maybe because of his moustache, I guess.
He answered right away after two, full rings but I was taken aback for a female was heard on the other side of the line instead of his old, raspy voice. Loud music was also heard in the background. I guess he's back in his old days, partying and drinking until dawn. A light blush covered my cheeks for a moment at the thought of him partying.
I ended the call. Nothing's going to happen anyway. I'll let him have fun tonight.
"Milady, we have tracked down his HQ already. An abandoned building in Truffles Park, that is." Pips bowed before me, handing me a device similar to a GPS. I noticed the green arrow pointing to a building near the fountain.
"Then let's go." I motioned for him to get out and gather the gang.
"But milady, aren't we going to wait for Boss' signal?" Pips interrogated. I mentally facepalmed at the question. Surely he won't mind if I tell him he's drunk, would he?
"Uh, he's busy right now and, I don't think he'll give a signal anytime. I will. Now go!" I pointed to the door and he quickly ran outside, telling the others to prepare the vehicles.
I ran out of the building, wearing my own tux, except that I had a (f/c) necktie. My guys wear black, except for my secretary, Audrey. A redhead who is secretly running a group against the destroyers of nature. She also wears a red necktie, striped slacks, a black coat and a white long-sleeved button down, the same as mine.
