Kai's POV:
"Kai, come down this instant!" I shrugged and pulled away from the red head. She still held her hands on my shoulders. Her lips smelt of strawberry and I they wanted to find mine. "Why do you have to go?" This red head had a temper but she was like no other, one of the most beautiful girls I had ever laid eyes on. "My dad called. Bye, red head."
"But we haven't even finished yet!" She glared at me in disbelief and jumped of my king-sized bed, plopped her shoes on and slammed my bedroom door. "Oh, gosh! What the fudge dad? Why did you do that?" I yelled at the top of my lungs and instead of going to wherever dad was downstairs I sat on my bed.
It was Sunday, in the autumn, October and instead of getting 'something' I get 'nothing'! I climb into my neighbour's window. She always keeps it open. I slid under her bed and then I hear a thud and a whimper. "Betty! Betty! I will hit you again if you go to that Andrew boy's house!" Hit? Did I hear clearly? I snuck into the hallway of the upstairs when I heard another thud and another whimper. "OK, dad... I won't go again..." I heard a SLAP and at that point I rushed downstairs to the area I thought it was going from.
It was in a large living room that had glass tiles. It had a several posh couches and it was connected to a kitchen. There I saw a girl with brown hair wearing a Chelsea supporter t-shirt, jeans and converses. She looked really pretty but she was also crying and she was laying on the glass tiles in pain. Stood over her was a tall man, possibly about 6"7 –abnormally tall, well not really nowadays- he held a metal stick which I assumed he supposedly hit her with. "Now you will listen to me!" He was about to hit her again but then I protected her by pouncing onto him and making his head bleed. The girl screamed in shock at the sight of me. Then, before I knew it, I grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the house.
"Let go of me..." She was still crying and then looked to face her. "Betty? Betty Mason?" I threw my hands around her but she didn't return, instead she let her hands fly down by her sides. She winced in pain. "Kai? Is it Kai-?"
"Lindell... Your old buddy!" I grinned, letting go of her.
"You were never my buddy. You were my stupid-idiotic-boyfriend-who-is-a-player-ex boyfriend. You still are!" She pushed my chest away but I didn't move instead I grabbed her hand and scanned it. It was filled with new wounds. "Who done this? Be honest, follow me!" I grabbed her and placed her shotgun in Lewis. She was vulnerable so she couldn't fight back. Why was I doing this? I only see her as 'the tomboy' at school.
I drove and we arrived at The Baldwin Park A&E Hospital, and then I questioned her again. "Who done this? Why?" I was literally furious and filled with pity.
"N-no one!" She yelled, folding up her arms. "None of your business!" She tried to open the door with force but I was already prepared. I had locked the car doors. "Was it that guy that hit you? Your dad? Uncle?" Her face softened. I had gone through this before, a few days before our break-up there was an outbreak in her school. Her father had slapped Melinda's mother and was accused of abusing Betty and her mother. He did get arrested that day but it was really serious.
"It is, now can you open the doors so I can get out. You are really hurting me by trapping me in here!" She scoffed, taking off the seatbelt.
"OK, but wait, why is he back?" I questioned, why was he back? Hadn't he been arrested a few years ago? "Well... he and my mother had an argument a few days ago and then he said he knew where we lived and on that day that I was late for PE with Andrew was the day he came." She exhaled, then I wrapped my arms around her to comfort her. "I'm sorry, Betty."
