My eyes open and as soon as they do i wish that they hadn't. My head pierces with pain causing me to squeeze my eyes closed. I feel around my bed for my phone but i can't seem to find it. I reopen my eyes to reveal a room; an unfamiliar room. I look over to the dresser next to me and see a glass of water with a single red pill sitting next to it. As i pick up the water i notice a sticky note stuck to the side of it.
this is for your hangover
-EOh God what did i do last night. I get out of bed slowly and make my way to the door which is slightly cracked. I shuffle down the stairs examining the simple house. There are no family pictures on the walls or decorations anywhere; the house lacks character.
As my feet meet the cool tile of the downstairs I hear clanking in the other room. I make my way toward the noice and turn a corner leading into a simple kitchen that reflects the simple house perfectly. "Good Afternoon." a voice says causing me to jump and whip my head in its direction. My eyes land on a boy who looks just as familiar as the house. His messy hair lays on his face and his chest is bare. My gaze trails down to the loose basketball shorts that hang low on his waist and I widen my eyes at the beautiful creature in front of me.
My mind races with possible things that could've occurred last night and then i lightly gasp to myself. "Did we..." I trail off looking every direction aside from his. "Uh no. We didn't." he chuckles and takes a sip from the mug in his hands. The smell of coffee dances through the kitchen. "Do you want some?" The boy asks me. "I just made it." He says setting his mug down and making his way to the coffee pot resting on the counter. I nod and awkwardly twiddle my thumbs looking around the room. "You can sit down you know." He tells me. I thank him and sit in the empty seat at the breakfast bar. He sets a mug identical to his in front of me and i thank him again. How the hell am i going to get home if i have no idea where i am.
"My name is Ethan by the way." He says breaking the silence. "Nice to meet you i'm Kory." I say and take a sip of the hot coffee. "I'm guessing you don't remember much from last night." Ethan says looking into his cup and running his finger along its edge. "Nope nothing, the last thing i remember was taking my 4th shot of tequila." I laugh. I look up at him and he's looking at me a way no one has ever looked at me before; with genuine interest.
"Well i'm sure you think i'm the biggest creep ever." He smiles locking eyes with me. "I found you passed out on a park bench so i brought you here."
"Thank you so much i would've probably died out there but i don't want to overstay my welcome so i should get going." I stand up and go to grab my phone out of my pocket. I look down at it and sigh, it is completely shattered. I hold in the power button and eventually the battery symbol pops up signifying that i need to charge it. "Do you by chance have an iphone charger?" i ask sounding desperate. "Android." He shrugs not saying anything else. "I can give you a ride home if you'd like." He offers.
"I don't want to make you do that you have already done so much." I say to him feeling guilty but in all honestly i don't have another way home.
"It's no problem." He says sliding the BMW keys off the counter and waves a hand at me telling me to follow him. I follow him into the garage and into what i am assuming to be his car. He puts the keys into the ignition and it roars to life. He backs out of the garage and i see the neighborhood we are in and i instantly know where we are. My aunt used to live here when i was younger.
"Where to?" he asks looking down at me. "Do you know where Goldcrest is." I ask him. "Uhh i think so. Is it off of 57?" he asks pulling onto the main road. I nod and he turns on the radio.
The car ride is silent other than the soft music playing in the background. I am distracted by him the entire time, i keep glancing over at him paying close attention to the stubble on his chin and the contours of his chest and stomach because this is most likely the last time i will see him. We pull into my neighborhood and i direct him to my house. The car comes to a stop in my driveway and i unbuckle my seatbelt. "Thank you again for everything." I say. "No big deal, bye Kory." I says nodding his head and lifting his fingers slightly from the steering wheel to wave me on. "It was nice meeting you, Evan." I smile and turn around making my way up to my door. "It's Ethan, remember that." he yells. I look back at him and he lowers his Ray Ban's down to wink at me as he drives away.
"Ethan." I smile to myself.
