It was beginning to grow dark. Akaashi sat with his legs folded up against his chest, and his back pressed up against the wall. He wrapped his arms around his knees, and pulled himself into an even tighter ball, as if by doing so, he himself could disappear.
Now he has done it. He had to have snapped like that, and ruined everything.
Why couldn't he have kept his mouth shut and just dealt with things himself? Why did he have to yell like that? Now he had gotten everyone mad at him. They didn't care about his problems. They hated him, he knew it.
It's not like he couldn't see the obvious glances Konoha and Komi had directed at Bokuto. That's the only reason he had said anything. Yes, no one cared, they all probably hates him.
But I don't want them to hate me.
I just want things to be normal.
Why did I have to ruin everything with my own problems? His thoughts began to echo loudly inside of his head, and he couldn't shut them off.
Why did I have to be an idiot and open my mouth?
I shouldn't have yelled...
I'm sorry.
Hey...
Someone...
Listen to me.
Please.Akaashi buried his face into his knees. It's not like anyone can see me cry here, and even if they did, it's not like they'd care.
--------
"Akaashi!" Bokuto called, running as fast as he could. He stopped bracing his hands on his knees panting. "Damnit." He muttered under his breath, before taking off again. It was beginning to get dark, and yet Akaashi was no where to be found. Bokuto ran, until somehow he wound up in front of a small alley between two buildings. Bokuto could've swore it was slightly colder in between. His footsteps echoed slightly louder then usual as he walked down the alley. He was about to turn back, when he caught a small figure huddled against the wall. He carefully approached the figure, a spark of recognition flickering in his brain. "Akaashi?" He said in disbelief. There was no reply. "Hey, Akaashi!" Bokuto said, more loudly this time. Still no reply.
Bokuto could feel himself starting to panic slightly. He knelt down next to Akaashi, placing a hand on his shoulder. "Hey-" but then he stopped.
Akaashi's eyes were closed, his eyelashes brushing the dark circles under his eyes. His mouth was slightly open, and his breathing was slow and rhythmic. Bokuto smiled to himself. "You're so tired that you fell asleep in a place like this?" He murmured, then gently shook Akaashi's shoulder.
--------
Akaashi felt a warm hand shaking his shoulder. Blinking sleepily, he looked up and directly into the face of Bokuto Kotarou. "Bokuto-san?" He muttered, when he remembered. Remembered what happened, and instantly looked down, wanting to melt into the ground. He waited for Bokuto to yell at him, to say he hated him.
"You'll catch a cold sleeping in a place like this." Akaashi glanced up, not sure if he'd heard right. There was no way he was actually concerned. Bokuto was leaning over him with his hand outstretched. A mix of emotions ran through Akaashi, making him want to scream. Why was Bokuto forcing himself to care? Akaashi just wanted him to yell at him and be done with it.
Akaashi opened his mouth to tell Bokuto to go away, but the words got stuck in his throat and a small choking noise came out.
Bokuto smiled, then grabbed Akaashi's hand and pulled him to his feet. "Let's go." He said, and started pulling Akaashi along.
'Why are you doing this?' Akaashi almost asked, but didn't. Bokuto's hand clasped over his felt warm and reassuring. Embarrassed, Akaashi realized that he didn't want Bokuto to let go. He was quite grateful that it was too dark out for Bokuto to see him blushing.
--------
By the time they had reached the changing room for the club, it was dark out. Neither Bokuto or Akaashi had said a word on the way there, but the moment the door was closed and the lights were turned on, Bokuto turned around to speak to the younger boy.
"You don't have to tell me what's wrong if I wouldn't understand, and if it's something I did, then I'm really sorry, but I hate how you've been acting lately, and I miss how things used to be, so please don't think I don't care."
Before he could stop them, the words came pouring out of Bokuto's mouth. He glanced up sheepishly, to Akaashi looking at him with wide eyes, and an almost shocked expression on his face. He quickly glanced at the ground, and muttered "sorry."
"You have nothing to be sorry for."
Bokuto could see Akaashi staring at the ground. "But I shouldn't have yelled at you like that."
Bokuto could feel himself getting slightly impatient. "So? It's not like I don't make mistakes, you don't have to be perfect."
"But if I'd been better-"
"Better? Akaashi, I like you just the way you are!" Bokuto could hear himself yelling, then leaned forward and grabbed both of Akaashi's hands. "Isn't it fine being mediocre? I don't care about things like doing better and not making mistakes, besides, it's not like anyone can get 100% of the answers correct all the time*!"
The room went dead silent. Then, Bokuto, realizing how close he was to Akaashi's face, blushed, and dropped Akaashi's hands.
After a few moments, Akaashi broke the silence. "Thank you, Bokuto-san."
"Huh? Sure, it was nothing."
"Umm.." Bokuto looked up, and realized that Akaashi was looking at the ground, and blushing. "By 'like', did you mean..."
"Wha-" Bokuto stammered, feeling his face grow warm. "That was-I mean, I- I'm not really sure, to be honest." God, what was he saying? This was so embarrassing. "I- how do you feel?"
Akaashi looked surprised, as if he'd never processed this thought himself.
"I'm not sure either."
"Well, like what do you want to happen?"
Akashi thought about this for a moment, before replying. "I don't really want anything to change. I'm happy with how things are. Regardless of how I feel, I want things to be like they used to be."
"Really? I think I know what you're saying." An awkward silence settled over them, and Bokuto began fidgeting with the hem of his shirt.
"It's late." Akaashi said, "I should probably get going."
"Yeah, me too."
As Bokuto turned to leave, he felt Akaashi wrap his arms around him. "Thank you." Bokuto felt his face heating up.
"Yeah, see you tomorrow."
A/n: I feel like I butchered that whole thing. Anyways, I'm just going to write a short epilogue after this, so that shouldn't take long at all.
* This is actually a line from the vocaloid song "No Logic" I didn't come up with it and don't take credit for it, I simply changed the wording to match the situation. All credit for that line goes to oneroom (creator of song). Also I recommend you check it out, it's a good song.
I hope I cited that right.
