Chapter 1; The Show Must Go On
"I need you to do me a favor." Addison brings up, tapping her nails on the wooden table outside the school. Her dark black hair was flying in the wind and occasionally she would move them from where they stuck to her red lips.
I raise an eyebrow. "Depends on what it is." Favors were either die for me or bring me the remote if you know what I mean. Never really any in between.
"It's... A big one for sure. But you owe me, remember?" The last sentence escapes her lips hurriedly, as if I would decline immediately. Which by the sound of this, was a high chance. Addison was... Mysterious. She was one of my best friends, I trusted her and I would do anything for her. But I felt sometimes I don't get the full story from her, then again, everyone's got secrets. It's not like I had a few dark things of my own to hide.
I sigh. "What is it?" I ask now kind of curious. I did owe her and I should probably listen at least.
"Theo. Get close to Theo anyway you can. For me." She blurts outs and her face looks as if that wasn't the best way to start it. Yeah, it really wasn't and I raise an eyebrow. "You owe me, I really need you to do this."
I blow my side bangs up. "Continue." I mumble not really wanting her to though.
"You know Theo and Logan right?" She asks, I nod. "And you know how they used to be pretty much buddy-buddy before two summers ago?" I nod again. "And that in the summer before the one that just passed something big happened? Now they can't even look at each other without lunging for each other's throats?"
"Get to the point Addy." I say impatiently.
"Hold on, geez. I need to convince you along the way. Anyways, you know that Theo and I are cousins, but his family swore off any connection to us because of a family feud right? But I still care for him, a lot. He was like my little brother, even if I was only a few months older, I still do. But he won't talk to me. He got into the feud and stopped talking to me.
"Well, I need you to figure out what happened. He's not allowed to converse with me, he isn't influenced by his family to hate you. Please do this for me. You know how it is, for a brother to not be like your brother anymore, but you still care about him. I helped you and Mason when guys had that big fight, to know how it feels to be disconnected to someone who is such a big part of your life." She ends.
"But how am I supposed to do that? I can't walk up to him and say, hey Theo, tell me what secret happened that summer that you've kept quiet for two years."
"I don't know, get closer to him, become besties, I know you'll figure out a way, please do this for me." She begs.
This wouldn't be easy, but I do owe her and I can empathize how she feels, so I nod and her face lights up. No idea how I could do this, but all I could think was she did the impossible for me and I need to return the favor. I was big on friendship, I never break promises, keep secrets, and hate it when I'm in debt of someone. Addy pulls me into a tight hug. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" She exclaims. "Promise me you'll find a way." She sticks out her pinky, a tradition we've had for a while.
I lick my lips staring at her finger. "I promise." And I link my pinky with hers sealing it.
