Chapter 2; I Rest My Case Judge Mom
My eye twitch was right. My mom had come home from grocery shopping and thought there was a robber in the house. Long story short, she banged him in the head with the air freshener and he still got yelled at for coming home.
"Owwwwww." Mason groans in pain as he holds his ice pack to his head. He got hit this morning, but my mom hit his head so hard, it still pains. I don't know whether to laugh or try to find som painkillers.
"Shut up you big baby." I say settling on that and rolling my eyes and shoving him and he lets out another groan of pain when his head hits the bed frames. He shoots me a look. "Sorry." I apologize.
"Cassie called." He brings up.
I whip my head from my laptop so hard, it almost cracks. "You've been talking to Cassie?" I ask surprised.
Cassie had this crush on Mason (MAJOR EWWW), but when he moved out and left to college without even saying bye to her... She wanted to rip out his guts and put them in a wood shredder and feed them to piranhas. And that's putting it nicely.
"Only today. Why?" He asks frowning.
"Oh nothing. You were saying?" I say waving the subject away.
"Oh right. Yeah, so she was ranting about how you were nuts for a half hour, and wouldn't let me speak. So when I finally got to speak, I asked her what the hell she was talking about, right. So she starts to rant again about how stupid I am. Can you believe her? Seriously, what is up with the female species- no offense. Actually take offense, I mean that. And then she finally tells me that you're actually doing Addison a favor and putting your nose in Theo's business." Mason babbles. He talks like a teenage girl sometimes, lets just be happy he doesn't use 'like' forty times in a sentence.
I let out a frustrated groan. "I don't see the big deal, they're cousins, she cares about him."
"Then let her do it, why are you doing the dirty work?" He crosses his arms.
"Because Theo won't talk to her, their families aren't talking to each other."
"Then get someone else to do it! Like Zach, he's already friends with Theo."
"First of all, Zach and Addy aren't that close anymore, they didn't not stay the best of friends after their break up. Secondly, Addy obviously knew I would agree it since I did owe her."
"Owe her what exactly?"
"She's the one that stopped our fighting remember?"
He gives me a blank stare. "So... You're doing this big of a favor for her... Just because she ended a stupid little fight between us?" I nod. "Why the hell are you so naïve? I would've forgiven you anyways."
"You were leaving for college." I stress. "And you wouldn't talk to me, I didn't want you to leave fighting."
Mason pinches the bridge of his nose, and takes a deep breath. He knows arguing with me is useless.
"You know I don't back down from a promise. Or a dare, because we both know Addison would've then dared me to do it. I even dumped staining soda on that blonde guys hair, who is now a ginger because of me. Since you said I was too boring! And then dared me to do it."
"But Lance can really work that ginger hair." Mason laughs.
"Poor guy. I can't believe that it stained that much!" I say. We have a... weird relationship. One moment we're arguing, and then next we're laughing together.
