We arrived at the hotel finally after I almost threw up from moving and sitting beside Kate who has begun to actually irritate me. I don’t know why but I can’t stand staying around her anymore since we first got on the plane, I feel like she’s boasting too much in front of this ‘Tyler’ but whatever it was I am getting really frustrated and felt regret too.
My room was number 1004 and on my right was Tylers room and on the left was Kate; room 1005. Unfortunately Samuel was on the 3rd floor while we were on the 17th; where all the cheap rooms probably were. This was so ridiculous, our rooms were the worst rooms ever, they were even worse than my mums barn pictures but oh well, ‘you get what you pay for’ in the end; and we paid nothing!
I lay down on my brick mattress for a while until someone knocked on the door. I went up and opened to see an Asian hotel employee standing there with my bags. I smiled and took the bags and then he started talking in a broken French accent - not that I know any French but you could clearly realize it-. I gave him that I don’t understand look and he then said “Oh English… I no speak good English” so I grabbed my bags and went in. Then I forgot that I haven’t asked him what kind of room this was, so I opened the door but he wasn’t there anymore. I banged it close again.
I felt like crying. I totally felt regret for coming. – I bet you have wanted to go to a place once and been really excited but felt regret from the first hour of staying there and had that thing in your throat while trying to keep tears from falling. Yes that’s exactly how I felt-
I thought I might as well go out for a walk which was a great idea for my mood. After closing the door and waiting for the lift, it finally came. And standing there was a black and a white guy talking. They were probably my age or a bit younger. They greeted me and unfortunately reaching to press the 0 it was already pressed with all the other 16 floors down they told me it was already like that from where their rooms lay on the 31st floor – Yes, the hotel is that big. It’s a 40 floor hotel- . We had a chat and they turned out pretty friendly folks from England. We finally arrived after hours of stopping at every floor.
Getting out to the street I felt finally relieved and alone. I started walking towards a red car I put as a finish line. I went back and forth three times but then got tired so I leaned on the drivers’ window of the car for a rest, then suddenly I felt the window going down. I looked and there was a black guy saying “oh hey there Emma” I couldn’t exactly recognize his face at first; from how dark it was. “so do you jog every day ?” he continued. I reached to my phone and opened the light near his face to see who he was. And there was Raymond; the same person I just met in the elevator. He laughed. “Oh yes I do” I said after apologizing. “Cool, ok then I’ll see u around” he said with a posh English accent and drove away. I jogged back and forth 4 times and then started back to my room.
Going in I saw Jamie; the white English boy in the hotel corridor also waiting for the elevator. “Oh hey there” he said with a smile. He was thin and a little bit taller than me, he had almost blonde hair which was cut in a shag cut and blue sparkling eyes. I forced a smile and greeted him. We got on together and he asked me what my room number was, willing not to say I tried changing the subject but he insisted on knowing. “I don’t think it’s something you need to know” I said with a grin. “oh then if you wish to stay mysterious” he said. I got off mumbling “yes I do wish to stay mysterious” while rolling my eyes with annoyance. “Mysterious?” I voice replied with a laugh. I knew straight away it was Samuel. “haha yes, mysterious” I said again. “I came to check what you guys were up to” he said.
I let him in. unsurprisingly he was also disgusted of how bad my room was. A few minutes later Kate and Tyler also joined us in my room and we made small plans for tomorrow - which were all ruined the next day-Tyler said he’ll rent a car and so did Samuel, so we can move around easily and maybe go to south France said Tyler. I felt a bit better when they came. They couldn’t stay for long since everyone was really tired. So we called it a day.
– after putting the do not disturb sign on my door, of course!-
