When the school bell went, Evangeline, Riva and I proceeded to the art room. Walking in, we found that it was as dark and empty as usual. No one wanted to be in this room longer than necessary, but just for good measure, we locked the door.

I opened up my bag as we sat ourselves down around a triangular table holding a well-made sculpture of an owl, each of us taking one side of the oddly shaped table. When Evangeline and Riva looked comfortable enough, I took out the Dominus Ruptor book from my bag and carefully placed it onto the table.

I slowly opened the book and felt a euphoric, warm aura swirl around me as I flickered through the pages. Sean told me that he needed a spell to make Maria fall desperately in love with him, so in practice we decided to help him and try finding something useful.

“Hey, I found something!” Riva shouted, pointing excitedly at a page. Upon closer examination, I saw a beautiful skull with a dagger in between its mouth and a rose filling its empty sockets. On top of the skull was a nude woman who I assumed was Venus, the Roman goddess of love.

We took our translated notes out and began to decipher the love spell, which surprisingly didn’t take too long.

I began to read over the translated spell.

Gather a piece of parchment and cut out a figure that resembles a human body. Draw a sword in a triangle at the centre of the figure and then chant ‘Impius Nox agape’.

Place the figure in an item that belongs to the victim and the spell will take effect, causing the victim to fall helplessly in love with whomsoever you please.

“Sounds easy,” Evangeline said with a smile.

Riva went to the nearby draws and took out some paper and scissors. She handed it to me and I then carefully cut the paper, following all of the instructions the book gave.

“Impius Nox agape,” I chanted, placing the figure onto a table, leaving my index and middle finger on the figure for good measure.

A warm feeling filled my fingers, and as quickly as it came, it disappeared.

“There, now all we need to do is give this to Sean,” I said with a sigh of relief. “He can put this into something that belongs to Maria.”

“He told us to meet him in the English corridor,” Evangeline told me.

We got up and went to the English corridor, where we were greeted by Sean. I greeted him curtly and pulled the figure that I had placed in my bag out.

“Make sure to put this in Maria’s bag without her knowing,” I instructed sternly. “If she sees it, she’ll probably throw it away and this won’t work.”

“O-Okay, I saw her outside the student council office, so her bag might be in there,” Sean stuttered.

“Be careful, remember that she mustn’t catch you putting it in her bag,” Evangeline said.

Sean nodded and then slowly went upstairs towards the student council office. It was getting late, so we made our way to the gates and decided to go home and meet each other early tomorrow, to see if the spell went well. Hopefully, this would teach that bitch, Maria, a lesson.

As I was approaching the school gates, I heard Riva and Evangeline call my name out. I walked up to them and smiled. Now all we had to do is to wait for Maria and Sean to arrive and see if the spell had worked or not.

We turned around as a white luxurious car parked opposite the school gates. A man in a suit then stepped out of the car and opened the door to the back seats. In no surprise we saw Maria elegantly stepping out and flicking her hair off her shoulders. The man got back into the car and then drove off.

Everyone around us was fascinated and began whispering about how rich she was and how she even has her own butler.

I sighed. “How pathetic, she’s not some goddess,” I mumbled to myself.

Maria then walked up to Rhen, who was feeding a stray puppy.

“Good morning, Rhen,” Maria said with a smile

“G-Good morning,” Rhen stuttered with a frown.

“I’m sorry about yesterday, I’m so embarrassed, I really a-” Maria said, but before she could finish, Maria noticed Sean entering the school. I felt the book in my bag radiating heat again, which hopefully meant that the spell was working.

Maria’s amber eyes were glimmering; she was blushing and couldn’t get her eyes off Sean. She then ran towards him and left Rhen looking at her as If she was crazy.

“Sean. Good morning, Sean!” Maria cried out, as she wrapped her arm around his.

“I can’t believe that she’s talking to him,” I heard people behind us whisper. Everyone around us was shocked that Maria was talking to someone like Sean; she never treated him seriously and she had always hated him. But Riva, Evangeline and I were grinning and were happy that the spell had worked.

“Sean…meet me in the student council office after school,” Maria said. Sean smiled in shock and nodded at Maria.

“I have something important to tell you, I’ll see you there!” Maria said with a wink.

It was late afternoon, and Riva, Evangeline and I were desperate to see what they were up to. We were outside the student council office and we quietly opened the door a little and saw Sean and Maria making out, we silently closed the door and went to the art room.

“Maybe, this is it,” Evangeline whispered

“What?” Riva said

“Alissa’s tarot card prediction,” Evangeline said

“The fool card that Maria picked up, it predicted that something will happen to her,” Evangeline said to clarify.

“I don’t know, but I know one thing for certain…this book of magic that we’ve found is real,” I said

At that moment, the second school bell rang and we walked towards the gates.
