Gerald woke up to his head throbbing. He looked at the time and noticed it was already 9 pm. Great. He had wasted the day by sleeping in. He looked at his messages and he had over 200 messages. Most of them were from the group chat. The rest was from his mom, his manager, Matty, and some random numbers he forgot to save.

His boys were arriving soon and he had no time to get ready. He quickly grabbed a pair of black jeans and threw on his signature leather jacket. Gerald went to the bathroom and fixed up his hair, making sure it was slicked back and looking dapper.

After a couple hours, they finally arrived and they decided to light a blunt and doing a couple lines to hype themselves up for tonight. Their ride finally came and the drive to the club seemed short, but that was probably because they were high as fuck. Once they stepped foot out the car, cameras were going crazy. They continued walking into the club and there were a shit ton of beautiful girls. However, one seemed to catch his eye.

Gerald knew his best to stay away from her. She was one of those girls that you wouldn't stand a chance with. But before Gerald could decide to grow some balls and talk to her, she made his way as another lady with a microphone and camera was standing in front of him.

"Hey it's your girl Elena, we have G-Eazy here and look who it is, model and Avery Gillard. You guys both look good tonight, having fun so far?" the interviewer asked.

"Yes," Avery answered with a smile. "Thanks for having us tonight."

"Of course, and happy birthday Miss Avery. How does it feel to be a year older?" Elena asked.

"Amazing. I'm just grateful to be here today. And thank you for inviting us to this wonderful event."

"You seem very quiet, you good G?" Elena asked as she noticed that he was not answering or saying anything.

"I'm good. Happy birthday Avery," he smiled. "Like she said, thank you for having us here. This place looks amazing."

"So you're referred to as Bay Area's James Dean. How does that make you feel?"

"I feel honored. That's so bad ass. Like I did not expect to get this big, I mean I'm a chaser so I'm going to go after what I want but I'm still in awe. And I couldn't have done it without my fans," he paused to look at Avery, "especially my friends and family."

"You two have known each other for a couple years now. You're both from Oakland, how do you feel about G-Eazy's success?"

"I'm very proud of him," Avery smiled. "He deserves it."

"Alright, last question before we wrap it up. Since y'all go way back, will Avery Gillard be in one of G-Eazy's music video?" Elena asked.

The two just looked at each other and didn't say anything.

"Avery is very talented, a beautiful model and I would love to have her in a music video or on a project with me. That'd be dope." He finally broke the silence.

"I'll have my manager contact yours," she giggled.

They wrapped up the interview and Gerald couldn't help but notice how eager Avery was to finish and leave him standing there. He followed her to the bar and took a seat right by her.

"Happy birthday Avie," he spoke softly in her ear. "It's good to see you again."

She let out a scoff and rolled her eyes as she turned to the rapper. "I was only saying that so the interviewer could get what she wanted for her piece."

Avery turned back to the bar and ordered herself a drink.

"Put it on my tab." Gerald yelled to the bartender before turning to Avery once again. "I saw your mom. Glad she's doing better. She's done with chemo." He said resting his arms against the counter at the bar.

"What do you want G?" Avery sighed, rolling her eyes. "I'm only here because I'm getting paid to make an appearance. Same reason why you're here. When I found out you were making a guest appearance as well I almost didn't come. I hoped maybe if you saw me tonight you'd stop with the voicemails."

Gerald let out a heavy sigh. He knew how Avery was when she was upset. She could be the biggest pain in the ass ever, and her attitude was the worst. She did not mind giving you the cold shoulder either.

"Avery, I'm sorry for hurting you. I'm sorry I pushed you away. I still think about you everyday. I didn't even know you were going to be here tonight. If I knew, I wouldn't have agreed to come. I hate myself for hurting you, Ave. You were my best friend during the darkest times of my life. I know me leaving to pursue my dreams was selfish and I wasn't there when you needed me, but you know deep down I would still pick up your phone calls at five in the morning if you were crying."

Gerald wasn't sure if this were the drugs talking or if it was his feelings that he had been keeping to himself. He never meant to hurt his best friend. He had known Avery for most of his life and the two had some amazing times together, and seeing her hurt made him hate himself even more.

"Whatever G," she rolled her eyes. "What's done is done. Cry me a river through voicemail."

He watched as she walked away to her friends. He ordered a whiskey on the rocks and sat there slowly sipping it as he began to regret his decision on pursuing his career. Not only did he hurt his family but he also hurt his best friend and the only person who would keep him in check and put up with his shit.

Gerald finished the drink in his glass before heading to the stage. He noticed his boys were already there and had everything set up. Blizzy was already on the drums ready to go. He was handed a mic and he hopped up on stage. Girls were going crazy.

He played a couple songs, such as Me, Myself, and I, Far Alone, and Tumblr Girls. As he finished up Tumblr Girls, he began to talk into the mic to the fans.

"I'm going to take this back. One of my personal favorites. It's called Marilyn, sing along if you know the words."

The crowd began to sing the chorus while Gerald took a shot of whatever that was handed to him by Marty. He began rapping but his eye was on Avery the whole time.

Avery felt herself getting hot. Her expression changed once he introduced the song. Her arms were crossed the whole time and she wanted to leave. She wasn't in the mood for this at all. She knew what that song was about and whom he had wrote it for.

She couldn't believe Gerald would stoop that low just to get her attention.
