Avery wrapped up her photo shoot and grabbed her phone that was at her vanity. She had a couple missed messages from Megan and Jessica, mainly about the night before. She had a new voicemail that she had been avoiding the whole day. She finally decided to give a listen, knowing it was going to be the same shit.
"Ave," his voice was husky, "I'm sorry about tonight. When I saw you, I don't know what came over me. I know you hate me so I didn't want to approach you a certain way. I really do hope you can forgive me and we can go back to being friends. I miss you Avery. Have a good night."
Avery pulled her phone away from her ear, rolling her eyes as she began to go through her messages.
I'm starving. Can we go eat? She sent to the group message. She changed back into her white shirt and black jeans. She put on her black booties before putting on her leather jacket.
"Bye everyone," she smiled and waved as she grabbed her purse.
Sure. Where at? Kinda craving Thai. Megan replied back. Once the girls finally agreed on a location and time, Avery hopped into her car. She put her sunglasses on and began to exit out of the parking lot and making her way home to change her out of her shirt and jeans.
Avery went through her closet and pulled out a pair of black high waisted shorts and black long sleeve crop top. She put on her long over-the-knee socks and slid in her boots. She touched up her makeup and put her leather jacket on once she heard Megan's car pull up.
"Hey birthday girl," Megan smiled as Avery hopped in the backseat.
"Don't remind me," she groaned. "Still kinda hungover from last night."
Jessica and Megan both laughed as Megan reversed out of the parking lot and began driving to their favorite Thai spot. The girls already knew what they wanted and ordered once they sat down. Taking their time eating their food, the girls began to gossip about last night.
"Dude, is it weird if Ant and I start dating again?" Megan pouted.
Jessica and Avery both rolled their eyes. They knew that things would not last between Ant and Megan. Since high school the two would talk on and off and the two would just lose interest in each other very easily.
"We all know you two are going to talk for like two weeks, fuck here and there, and then stop talking." Avery said.
"I know, but I just want sex. Nothing else, and to be honest, after dancing with him last night I have an itch only he can scratch." Megan wiggled her eyebrows at the two.
"Gross," Jessica laughed. "Speaking of gross, G went to the bathroom with those two girls after we left."
Avery couldn't help but chuckle. Typical Gerald. It didn't surprise her, honestly. That was how he was. If he found an easy girl who could offer him her goodies right there and then, he'd be down to fuck her. Especially if he was under the influence, and that was most of the time.
"Go G," Avery said under her breath as she began picking at her food.
The girls finally finished their dinner and began to head back to Avery's. Unfortunately it was rush hour and they were stuck in traffic. Food coma had hit Avery hard and she began to fall asleep in the back of the car.
They finally pulled up to her place, waking her up. The three of them headed up to Avery's penthouse. As Avery unlocked her door and opened it, to her surprise all her friends and coworkers were there with a big cake.
"Surprise!" everyone yelled.
"Happy birthday, babe!" Jessica and Megan both wrapped their arms around their best friend.
