Avery rolled onto her side and frowned when she reached over and found the other half of the bed empty. She pushed herself up and wiped the sleep from her eyes as she looked around the room. She crawled out of bed and headed towards the kitchen. Avery smiled at the smell of pancakes.

G was standing in front of the stove in nothing but a pair of joggers. Avery giggled to herself as she watched Gerald attempt to flip the pancake in the air. He turned around and smiled at the sight of her in one of his oversized tees.

"I haven't seen you in one of those in a long time," G licked his lips before sending her a playful smirk.

"Shut up." she walked towards him and nudged him. "I just needed something to sleep in."

"Breakfast is almost ready." he looked over his shoulder.

Avery was standing behind him watching him flip the pancakes. She smiled as she began to reminisce on the times he'd sleep over and she'd wake up to him making her breakfast. Even when the two had nothing, he would scrape whatever he could in their kitchens just to make her breakfast.

Gerald finished up on the pancakes and moved onto the eggs. He made hers sunny side, just the way she liked them before moving onto the bacon. He fixed her plate before fixing his own. He set the plates on the table along with the syrup, butter, and their cups of coffee.

"Thanks G," Avery smiled as she took a seat at the table.

"Of course, anything for my Avie." he pecked her forehead before grabbing a seat by her. "How'd you like the release party?"

"I love the album, G." Avery smiled as she took a bite of her food. "The songs were so raw and beautiful."

"Which ones were your favorites?" He asked, smiling.

"I'd have to say the one with Kehlani and the one before that with Quiñ."

"Glad you liked those." Gerald said as he took a sip of his coffee. "Like I said you were my inspiration for a lot of my songs. Even on the previous album."

Avery's cheeks turned red as she picked at her food. She didn't know how to feel about that honestly.

"Look Avery, I'm really sorry about hurting you. I can be the biggest asshole, I know, but I do care about you. At first it was fun and games and I would hit you up because I wanted more, and after the abortion you obviously didn't want anything to do with me, and I fucking missed you. I realized I fucked up, just leaving you at home after the surgery."

Avery set her fork down and let out a heavy sigh. "Please Gerald. Please stop."

"You're the only girl I want to be with." He admitted.

"We won't work out." Avery rolled her eyes.

"Why not?" Gerald cocked his brow.

"We have too much history. And I love you, you've been my best friend for a very long time. But I don't know if there'll ever be an 'us'." She frowned at Gerald.

She could see the hurt in Gerald's eyes and it pained her. She didn't mean to hurt his feelings but he had to be reminded the truth.

"We can go back to being friends again though, G. I've missed you."

"Of course," Gerald painted a smile across his face. "Friends."

The two silently finished their breakfast and went about on their day which consisted of binge watching shows on Netflix. As much as Gerald didn't want to be friends with her, he knew he had to settle with it.
