The students awed at their surroundings and jumped at the idea of living there. They started their studies immediately and they had talent, increasing the shaman's expectation.

'Ga ok would be proud.' The shaman thought and smiled, 'Yeon would be part of it soon.' Then she heard the faint sound, and she ran towards Yeon's quarters. She realised that she left Yeon alone and ran towards her quarters. she was awoke and crying as a newborn baby she had been neglected.

she cradled the baby and then remembered Gaok's beheading was to start and ran. She hoped she hadn't missed it as she arrived she gasped in horror at the sight of Gaok, she was bloody, beaten and more than half dead.  Kneeling there, her face ashen white, you could see the grief she had in her eyes and she looked up and beheld her baby for the last time. The day old baby was asleep,  blissfully unaware of the happenings that were going on. She had plump cheeks and black hair that formed a slight curve at the end.
Smiling she croaked, tears pouring out of her eyes. 'Forgive me my child,  I won't see you grow up in this life. I hope in the next life we're born again as mother and daughter.' She averted her gaze as her demise approached, ringing it's wretched bells.
The crowd grew silent as the executioner began his beheading dance. The people mourned her, she had been kind to the beggar boys when she was errands and would work even when she was sick. She smiles looking at the bright side at any time whether after being slapped by her boss or after being raped by him.
The shaman turned her eyes, unable to witness this atrocity,  for what you have seen you can't unsee and what you have heard you can't unhear. And as the knife came slashing down and the sickening sound of the head rolling came to stop and the specks of blood landed on people's faces, the shaman muttered goodbye.
The crowd slowly dispersed, clearly thrown off by Ga ok's recent death but a spark rose amidst the gloomy atmosphere as they wondered. If she had been beheaded for being a runaway pregnant slave then who was the father? And what was his business with her? Why would she run away?
The question awoke everybody and everything was almost bacj to normal.  Till no one noticed the shaman's disappearance.
Now at the time of the beheading,  a disturbed atmosphere had begun. One that led people to curse, or to hide themselves. The King's younger brother was back. According to the testimonies of people who had not one good word about his character; he was a womanizer,  a coward who had no brains and was stupid to a fault. However one cannot no the heart of another and there was more to him that met the eye. A devious man, cunning and wise who had mastered to art of deception to manipulate those he felt were his opposition. A man who knew that for his plans to follow through he had to act foolish and endure the endless amount of insults thrown at such a magnificent Grand Prince as he was.
A foolish man, he reasoned, could attract attention that wouldn't reveal his hidden political plans. However a wise man, he reasoned, would have many adversities as people would unnecessarily view him as a political threat.
His name was Grand Prince Sukhin and he was coming for Geuma.
Marching in, he took the changes that had forgone in the palace,  in the last ten years. He finally exclaimed to the  people .
'More beautiful wenches.' He said winking at them.
He approaches his nephew who became troubled with his every step.
Then he said within himself "I shall take my acrimonious sword and strike it in your heart. He then picked his nephew and cradled him deeply within his bosom.
Now in the midst of the shaman, Myeona had the job of caring for Yeon and she was not in favour of Yeon and treated her badly. Her irrational thinking that Yeon was a threat to her becoming the shaman's favourite was that she even starves the baby to make her seem unbecoming.
The shaman was outraged. 'For the sake of me giving you attention, you are belittling a child that can't even crawl.' She screamed. 'I am ashamed of you.'
When she heard this, Myeona became annoyed and shouted 'who are you to say such woebegone words?' And walked out without a second glance leaving her brother there.
The spirit she saw in her  needed time to overcome the flesh so she let her be.
Yeon was cherished by her new brothers and sisters for a while until Myeona returned looking hungry. She had also missed the lessons, a place to call home and her brother.
Soon Yeon began to talk, learning from listening to her elders she amused them with her cleverness.
Sukhin was in a entertainment house, a brothel, filled with pretty gisaengs who called to him seductively to devour his riches. To him, the allure of a place like this wasn't just any hobby anymore, it was a harbouring need that pecked at his conscious if he tried to turn away. He sat there, engaging himself in the delightful damaging arts of alcohol, with his son:Ohyi.
'Father.' The year old muttered, his father had disappeared from the kingdom for ten years and with him came a son, whom he did not deserve but desperately wanted.
Ohyi was the son of Sukhin, the heir to his father's pride and cunning; to his father's hope and longing; the heir to the throne meant for his cousin Yuri. Born a hindrance.
'Son.' He drawled, his eyes fixed on his pride and joy. 'I am back! Finally, my brother can not keep me away any longer, i am here to stay and as twisted as they say.' He laughed raucously initiating a mood typical to his character as the gisaeng dismissed his drunken monologue.
Ohyi watched his father with seeming admiration, with the naivety of a child he looked on with wide pupils; having just first laid sight upon the flesh of his flesh and blood of his blood he giggled along with his father. Whilst resting in the bosom of half-dressed gisaeng.
Watching on as his father wasted himself away, fell asleep confined within the walls of a whore house rather than the palace walls.
Yeon will be wise and quick-witted; Geuma, funny and immature; Ohyi a respectable and tolerant gentleman.
Time passes on and suddenly halts when a Qing envoy arrives and proves a menace, as a close friend of Grand prince Sukhin (may he live forever). Not in favour of Geuma succeeding  his position as heir to the throne he would begin to use everything in his power to prevent him from assuming his rightful place.
Now upon this time, the Shaman collapsed.
