(Intro)

My alarm clock began to go off as soon as five a.m had rolled around. I stepped out of my warm bed and walked over to the clock. The sound was so sharp in my ears, it made them want to bleed, but it got me up nonetheless. I turned my body and looked at my bed and I was so tempted to crawl back in it and sleep, but I knew I would be late for my first day of school. Was I nervous? Yes, very. Was I excited? Extremely. School was something I was definitely good at, other than martial arts. I walked into my small closet and scanned all of the racks to find an outfit that would be suitable for the day. I picked out a white dress and pulled out a pair of nude-colored ballet flats to wear. I walked into the bathroom and lightly combed through my brown hair that ended just a little lower than my collarbone. Last night I curled my hair so today it would have a nice wave and have a natural looking curl, even though my hair was dead straight. I applied little makeup to my face, only a bit of mascara and blush. After finishing my makeup I began to walk downstairs. Surprisingly, another person was up, it was my mother.

"Good morning mom." I said grabbing my lunch out of the refrigerator, I stuffed it in my backpack and sat down on a chair by the counter.

"Morning dear. You excited for school?" She asked me, trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible, but she ended up yawning right after her sentence.

"Excited can't begin to describe the feeling I feel right now." I responded as my mom placed a plate of blueberry pancakes in front of me. "Thanks mom."

"Now eat up, and let me know when you are ready to go." She said. I nodded and began to eat my breakfast, which was very good.

Time flew by and seven had rolled around. Although school began at eight, many new students, and returning students, would go early to get a feel of where their classes would be.

"Hey mom I'm ready." I said. She followed me outside to her car. "Mom, you know I can take myself." I implied, buckling my seat belt.

"I know honey, but I just want to see you go off on the most important year of your life." She wept in a sarcastic tone. I laughed and we drove off to school. The whole ride she babbled on with pep-talks, do's-and-dont's, and pretty much everything else that I might need to get through the year, even though I probably won't. I kissed my mother goodbye and I was left at school. The entry was decorated with banners that had all different sorts of things written on them. I took the schedule out of my back pack and began to look over it.

'Welcome Seniors!' It read in bolded black at the very top. My first period was Math in room 76, Art in room 98, Physics in room 104, Lunch, P.E, European History in room 12, and English Literature in room 49. I visited each class and talked with all of the teachers. I made my way to the huge open area of benches and sat down. It was only 7:30 and many people still had not shown up. It took a few minutes for students to arrive and I saw one of my closest friends, Ren, walk into school. She was very pretty. Ren had light-tanned skin and hair that was a very light, shimmery brown. Her hair went down to her neck and it was straightened, as always. She had a floral dress on and smiled as soon as she saw me.

"Jinora! It feels like it's been forever since we have seen each other." She hugged me. "Even though it's been like 48 hours."

"Yeah." I responded. We checked each others schedules and as usual, everyday since, well 4th grade, we had the same exact schedule. We sat down and watched as more kids poured into the school and met up with more friends. The bell rang and we had our first class, but on the way their I had made eye contact with this boy. I don't know who he was but he was extremely attractive. He was wearing dark blue jeans and a green long sleeve shirt. His hair was shaved at the bottom but at the top, it was grown out like how a boy would normal have his hair, though it was messy at the top.

Math was alright, Art was somewhat fun, Physics was amazing, and lunch had just began.

"Hey Jinora wait up for me!" Ren called out after me and quickly ran to my side and walked with me to an outside lunch table. We there met up with out friend Maihime. Maihime and Ren were quite close, but not as close as Ren and I. Maihime wore a white t-shirt and a red skirt, that matched with her brown hair. I looked over at the boy who I saw earlier. He was with the really a annoying boys, you know the cocky ones, the boys who think they are all that. I looked away and focused back on eating my lunch.

"Ugh! I hate having Math first period." Ren spoke. Her brown eyes looked down at her sandwich and eagerly took a bite of it. We shared stories about our Summers and spoke about are plans for the year.

"All I want is straight A's on my report cards, I don't care what they are antithetical time." Maihime laughed.

"Me too, but my dad would kill me if I have anything lower then a 94%." I stated finishing my lunch. "Well, I am going to spend the rest, 30 minutes or so in the library." I said waving goodbye. I walked off and made my way to the school library and gladly smelled the quaint smell of the books. I walked to the big desk where the old librarian sat.

"Hey Hiroko! How was your summer?" I asked quietly, but still cheerfully. We had made a friendship since freshman year.

"Quite alright. I was able to go the beach and show of this hiding summer body." She laughed shimmying. The image made me want to shiver but I didn't let that happen. I dug through my back pack and pulled out a wind chime and held it up. Her wrinkled mouth smiled and I set it down on her desk. She thanked me and I sat my backpack down at a table and went off to finding a book.
