And it's hard, the days just seem so dark, the moon and the stars are nothing without you
Hours passed and she just sat there emotionless, staring at the brown coffin. She was tired, emotionally and physically but she had to be strong. The whole ceremony left her exhausted, she just wants to lay in her bed, fall asleep and never wake up. Demi would lie if she said that the thought of doing it never crossed her mind.
Every night, she would wake up to nightmares and she would always reach for his side of the bed, hoping that she will feel his warmth but she would always be met with disappointment everytime. That side of the bed was cold and untouched, as if he was never there and it would always leave her weeping.
"Sweetie?"
She looked up and saw Wilmer's family, staring at her. They knew how much he meant to her.
"Ma." Demi spoke in her little voice. She just stopped crying and doesn't have the energy to break down once again. It was an agony for the both of the family.
"Oh sweetie! I'm so sorry you had to go through this" Sobieda hugged her and Demi sobbed, clenching on her shirt. "I'm so sorry." she repeated before Demi shook her head and pulled away.
"No, don't be sorry. It is not your fault." Demi sobbed, before putting her hands on her face.
"Stay strong, mi amor." She heard Sobeida said and it only made her cry harder and Sobeida instantly felt bad.
"Demi? we're leaving now, get ready" She just nodded and stood up before going out and made her way to the van. Everyone sat in silence in their journey on their way home, it was an uncomfortable silent.
"Stop the car." Demi said as she caught a glimpse of her and Wilmer's house, Eddie just ignored her since he was the one who is driving. "I said stop the car." she growled in frustration, everyone was shocked on her tone of voice and Eddie immediately stop the car and Demi took it as a chance. She threw the door open since she was near the door and sprinted in the house, ignoring her mother's orders. She opened the door and slammed it, locking it before they got the chance to enter the house.
"JUST LEAVE ME ALONE! I WANT TO BE ALONE! I DON'T NEED ANYONE!" She shouted before falling on her knees sobbing.
She went to the backyard and saw the night, so dark and the stars are nowhere to be seen. Everything changed, she always thought that she will be the first one to die before him but she was wrong.
"You know, I love you so much." Wilmer whispered, wrapping his arms around her from behind "I will marry you in front of a billion stars"
"Really?" she whispered, looking at the stars that are twinkling brightly.
"Really, hermosa." He promised. "I love you."
"I love you too, promised me that you will never leave me."
"I promised."
he swore, he promised, he broke it and left her. She wiped her eyes at the flashback, she missed him so much. She can't go on on this cruel world without him, he's her armor, he was her armor. She cried, bringing up her knees in her chest before she buried her face in her knees, sobbing quietly as she sat on the damp grass. She knew that it will happened but she is too blind to believe it.
"I'm gonna die."
She swore that her heart skipped a beat. "You're kidding, right? No Wilmer, you will not die, okay? i'll make sure of it."
"You can't say that." It was the moment when she knew that everything will change.
She felt someone moved, behind her but instead of looking she just sat there, not flinching. "Whoever you are, take all you need and just kill me. I don't care anymore."
"Honey..." It was her mother, it broke her heart to see her own daughter, grieving on her own and not letting the others to help her and hearing those word to come out of her mouth, made her cry. "Come here, baby." She opened her arms to her daughter.
Demi sniffled before looking at her mother, her eyes were glistening with tears before a single drop of tear fell. "It hurts so much, mom. I feel like I can't breathe without him. He's my life, my world and now, now he's gone."
