"but diary, i met this one boy. i know, diary, i always meet boys. but this one, he is different. i only talked to him for thirty minutes, and i may officially say i've been driven crazy because of his majestic smile, ever since the day i saw it. oh god."
des had locked herself up in her room. she calmly wrote in her diary, day dreaming back to shawn's beautiful smile from the night before.
she, luckily, did not have to work tonight. she only worked mondays, wednesdays, and fridays. today was saturday. therefore, her twin brother was throwing another of his famous parties-- for des, infamous.
the only thing those parties caused was for her to be annoyed with the overrated music she heard, drunk people to stumble into her room (looking for a place to have sex in), and often not being able to sleep at all.
but she had to get through "david's legendary parties" almost every weekend. the worse thing is their mom actually let him throw parties because of her divorce with their dad two years ago. des' mom was consumed by guilt.
des hadn't seen her dad since the divorce. that's why she was overly excited for her sweet 16 trip to new york. they'd both go out together and have a father/daughter bonding moment. she was convinced it would be beautiful.
suddenly, as des ate her peanut butter and jelly sandwhich, she begun to feel her mouth uncomfortably sticky. milk. that's exactly what she needed. but she didn't want to join the sea of dancing teenagers downstairs.
but the other perk of milk would be that, it would help rinse off the remains of her sandwich which were stuck between her braces.
so she headed downstairs because she didn't want sandwich crumbs stuck in her braces.
she went down the staircase as quick as her tiny legs could jog, because, honestly, she just wanted to avoid people.
so she headed to the fridge. it legit took her forty-five seconds to find the milk carton. when she slammed shut the door of the mint green fridge, she saw a face she could recognize immediatly, even though he was quite some feet away.
shawn.
he looked cute. he was wearing a blue flannel, light blue jeans, and black vans. his hair was down and he looked more adorable than ever. a beer bottle was in his hand, and his smile was wider than yesterday's. she felt a blush creep up her neck. but she quickly turned around so he wouldn't see her. she was pretty self concious at the moment. she was wearing a simple batman t-shirt, low waisted jean shorts, flip flops, and her hair was a frizzy mess. plus, she had sandwhich crumbs in between her braces. if she had known a boy with the looks of a greek god was in her house, then she would've at least brushed her teeth.
she rushed upstairs. it was kinda hard because the dancing teenagers she had to avoid were like an obstacle course. because of her delicacy and concentration when evading the teenagers, she lacked to notice the footsteps trailing behind her.
she soon found herself in the most peaceful place she has ever been in. her room. her own private paradise. she takes a small sip directly from the carton of milk. she mainly didn't use a cup because she had forgotten one downstairs, but also because she was a rebel. she set the carton of milk on her nightstand, and as she did that, heard a knock on her room's door of her room. the door she had slammed shut a couple seconds ago; slamming was a notable habit of des.
she opened the door, mainly expecting her mom- which would randomly come storming into her room expecting a hug from des and a PG-13 movie they could watch together. but des' mom knew quite well that des and her didn't have the same relationship after the divorce.
