Maya POV:
I walked home from school with my heart in my throat.
I walked into the drugstore, shaking all over, and went over to talk to Abbie. She told me what to say and what not to say.
After a good ten or fifteen minutes of chatting to Abbie, she called my mom and asked her could she come home from work for about ten minutes because I had something urgent to talk to her about.
By the time me and Abbie had gotten to my apartment, my mom was already at home, sitting down at our kitchen table- looking very worried.
"Maya go ahead and explain what's happened, to your mom. I'll go now.." said Abbie, I don't know what I'd do without that girl.
"I-I-I messed up mom. I messed up big time." I said shaking at the thought of how she would react when I told her what had happened.
"What did you do?" she said, her voice as shaky as mine.
"I'm pregnant..." I whispered so that she could barely hear me.
"Maya speak up dear. You know how I hate you mumbling" she said, still shakey.
"I-I-I'm pregnant mom" I said, sobbing into my hands.
There was silence for a few moments before I heard my mom say "Oh god"
"Are you going to keep it?" she asked, now quietly sobbing into her hands too.
"I only found out I was pregnant today mom. How would I know" I said, not trying to be snappy, but it came out snappy.
"Shit Maya. I don't want you to end up like me.......I don't want my baby girl to turn out like me - a single mother living in a two bedroom apartment and working all day and most of the night at some stupid diners that you hardly get paid for" said my mom, crying worse than ever.
"Who's the father?" she mumbled.
"What?" I said- I hadn't heard the question.
"I said 'Who's the father?'" she said looking worried.
Before I could answer my phone started ringing, it was the baby's father.
"Hello?"

I'm gonna tell you in the next chapter who the father is.
I know that this chapter is pretty short and all but I wanted a cliffhanger.
I'm only gonna update once a week, but in the week I'll try and get two or three chapters done so that once I'm finished the book all I have to do is publish one chapter every two days.
