"You'll never escape my grasp. You're doomed forever...." Its voice stung in my ears. No, this is not how it should be. I couldn't be. It's just a dream, my imagination, nothing more.
I struggled to run free but its long sharp claws pulled me back before I could.
"let me go!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. It swallowed me whole, it's sharp teeth grinding against my skin
"It's too late now!" It said with a smile, as I fell down the hole you call his throat into nothing.
I woke up with a jolt. The Beast, It came again. It won't scare me, I promised myself. It can't hurt me anymore. I'm not that gullible, not now, not anymore.
I took a deep breath, sitting up on my blue comforter, trying to forget about the dream I just had. No matter how many times it came, the beast never seem to stop scaring me and to make matters worse, the only person who seemed to tame the beast, prevented it's arrival was gone, his existance erased from the face of this Earth.
How many days has it been? How many nights have gone by without seeing his face? How many times have I wished to see him again, even if it's only for a minute? No matter how much time has passed, no matter how many people told me to I still couldn't forget about him. How could I? He was my world, my dreams, my everything. He was my first love.
He smiled at her. Even from a distance, she could tell he was special. The way his green eyes bore into her, she could feeling herself melting from his gaze. Her heart started beating rapidly as he walked towards her and she could feel her face heating up. As she leaned against her locker, sighing deeply, she couldn't help but wonder if he was coming her way or just simply passing by.
"Hi, I'm new here. Can you help me?" he grinned
"Umm... sure" she smiled nervously, " Where do you want to go?" she managed to say.
"I'm looking for Haggard's classroom. I'm sorry but there doesn't seem to be numbers on the doors, I'm sorry for bothering you." he sounded unsure.
"It's okay, I don't mind. C'mon, I'll show you the way." she said " Our school's quite weird that way though, I wouldn't blame you." she explained. "It's just that this is a small town and there are hardly any newcomers here, so I guess nobody bothered to since we all know the way around." He could tell he made her feel uneasy. That, she knew for sure.
She led him through the half-empty hallways, ignoring the stares of confusion and excitement her peers seemed to show. She could almost hear they're thoughts. OMG! A new guy! She walked with confidence, hoping he'll see that she's different.
" Thanks, see you around." He smiled and turned the other way. From that moment on, she was hooked.
She didn't even know his name.
The first time I met him, I was fifteen, barely old enough to make decisions and I never did. But he never gave me a choice and I wouldn't have it any other way. It was meant to be, I know that much. But that night, it was my choice, my move that made up his mind. The Founder Day's Ball. I'm sure of it.
