Dana's Point Of View

Mona's comment about playing the game like males remained on my mind. When I got home I greeted my mom, and feed our dog; Fluffy. "How was the date with Jay?" She asked, while washing the dishes. "Um, we broke up I don't wanna talk about it. But anyways how was your date with Nick?" Nick is my mom's boyfriend of a few years now; he's about six feet tall, hazel eyes and a brown skin tone. "Amazing and guess what; he's going to be moving in!" My mom said jumping up and down. But don't get me wrong I like Nick it's just that I'm use to it being my mama, I and Fluffy but shit changes I guess.

"Mama you letting him move in and you don't got a ring?" My mama shook her head, while drying her hands. "Baby a ring isn't everything, and just because you got it doesn't mean you and whoever will last." My mama gave me a kiss on the cheek and told me to walk Fluffy before I started getting ready for bed. I took Fluffy around the block and bumped into some girls from school.

"Hey Dina, word on the street is that you and Jay broke up. Thank god a fine nigga like him needed to be on the market," Keisha said flipping her stale, unblended weave. "Okay your point is?" I asked picking Fluffy up so it'll be easier to get his lazy self home. "My point is now that your out the picture he's mine." I rolled my eyes and started to walk away from them. I was nearly around the corner, I heard Keisha yell, "I'm sorry I ruined your date by the way," Normally I would go back and slap the both of them but I don't have patience for Keisha and her pack of fake friends. I went home, washed up and slept.

The girls met up the next day at school at their usual place; middle of the hallway lockers on the second floor of the building. Only Dana, Layla and Kay lockers where actually there though the others had lockers upstairs. "So since we here you should let me put my coat in your locker," Aaliyah said bawling up her coat trying to stuff it into, Kay's locker. "You know you going upstairs when the bell ring, why not put your coat into your own locker," Kay said rolling her eyes and locking her locker. "I would but eh to late now,"  Aaliyah said, Dana was going to her locker and pulled out her boyfriend, well ex, now jacket.

"What you about to do with that?" Mona asked, leaning against the lockers. She explained how she was going to take it back to him since they aren't together anymore and didn't really want it around. While walking down she passed another one of there friends Alicia; who goes by Ali and asked her to walk down to his locker. When he was in distance, Jay and "Experiment 589" where currently up against his locker kissing. "Do you want me to kick him? Remember last time when I did." Ali said referring to the time where she kicked Jay down, he said something offensive and well she kicked him. "Nope because watch this," Dana walked up to them, hit the lockers to alert them she threw the jacket at him and walked off back with her friends.

"So back to this idea of playing the game like niggas?" Janelle said after her ex; Andrew walked  past with his girlfriend. Mona was about to explain then the bell rang. "I'll explain at lunch." Mona said running up the stairs to English with Aaliyah. The day was pretty irritable for all the girls, seeing people they cared about with someone else as if they didn't matter to them. How can you just throw something away as if it never mattered to you for another? Boys have emotions just like we do yet they always keep theirs on the down low. Why is it always some game, but if it's a game they want it's a game the girls are going to give them. Make them feel how we feel. Least none of the girls had lunch with any of there exes.

"Is everyone here before I start to explain because I don't want to have to repeat myself," She checked the table all the girls were there, Dana, Alicia, Layla, Kay, Janelle, Aaliyah and Jamaica where all there. Dana sat across from Mona, next to her was Alicia, across from her was Layla, next to her was Aaliyah, across from Aaliyah was Jamaica and then Janelle at the end of the table sitting in a chair that she pulled up. "Since everyone is here, I'll explain what I mean clearer," Mona took a sip of her Sprite and then went into detail. "We are all beautiful black females, there's how many boys in this school?" Mona explained how there's boys from all over in our school since it was a new one that they just formed here in New Orleans. "These boys care about us, yet they think we'll always be around so they choose to play around with us cause they're young and stupid. If we show them we can pull another guy and flaunt him. They'll come around." Mona said checking out her nails that she recently got done at the shop.

"How can you be so sure?" Jamaica said, Jamaica's usually a confident girl but when it comes to guys that's where it gets low. But she's always there to support the girls when it's needed. "Y'all remember my cousin; Kelly wedding?" Mona said opening a bag of chips. Numerous responses came back, the girls started to over talk each other which is kind of likely in there circle. "She told me that her boyfriend wasn't always good to her or good for her in general. She had to teach him them ropes, and she believes that each girl has too at some point in her life with some guy." Mona didn't come up from a good childhood, her father wasn't around and her mother got into drugs. She lived with her aunt and there family until she turned eighteen and got emancipated. "So where are we going to meet a new set of guys, yes there's plenty in this school but if the guys we are with don't feel threaten by the other one then it's no point," Ali said, stating facts. The girls tried to name several places in the school where they could meet guys at yet, a lot of the good guys were taken at the school.

"But if we use guys aren't we no better than the boys that did that to us?" Kay said, Kay she's usually a laid back girl, she only gets defensive when she feels as if it's needed. But she's also extremely smart, never doubt her abilities. She believes she doesn't need a guy but still dates when she chooses her last boyfriend; Dillian apparently didn't really have major problems until she stopped going to the same school as him. "Kay honey," Layla said tapping her shoulder, "Sometimes you gotta join in the game with them have some fun hoe a little bit, ain't nothing wrong with it." Layla said then getting up to throw her trash.

"So are we all going to play this game?" Jamaica asked, the girls agreed to the game they were going to play. Play the boys at there own game, is it gonna be simple? Probably not, is it gonna create drama? Hell yeah. But before you let them walk you gotta show them how to crawl. Females gotta learn that they can equal the score, play the game better than boys and even teach them some lessons in their own games. It's their senior year, got to end their high school career off with a bang besides being a little savage never hurt anybody has it?
