Chapter 3
Astra's P.O.V
I was currently sitting in science next to Tara. Ryder was sitting behind us and every so often he would poke my back with his pencil. I felt a poke and my irritation soared. I was about two seconds away from giving this dick the slap of his life if he poked me one more damn time. Just then, I felt another poke in my back and that did it.
I swung my right hand back and all throughout the classroom you could hear the resonating and satisfying smack as my hand connected with Ryder's cheek. Everybody's heads swung around to us so fast I was afraid that they would all get whiplash. I turned around to see my red handprint on Ryder's left cheek and the most dumbfounded look on his face. Even though it meant I would get into a shitload of trouble, it brought me that satisfaction, so I gave him the sweetest smile I could muster.
Right on cue I heard the teacher yell my name to go to the principal's office immediately. I gathered my stuff and and on my way out, the teacher handed me a pink slip for detention. I walked out of the classroom and slammed the door shut. I walked down the hall and to the office. I heard a door open and close behind me. I turned around to see none other than Ryder jogging to catch up to me. I turned back around and kept walking.
"Wait up!" I heard him yell.
Don't do it. I told myself. Don't slow down. Keep going. If you let your guard down, you're only going to get hurt again. So I sped up my pace and kept walking. I felt his large hand grab my arm and slide down to my hand. I immediately tensed and yanked my hand away.
"Why did you smack me?" He asked looking shocked and hurt by my actions.
"Why do you think?" I said sarcastically, my tone laced with anger.
"I'm actually not sure..."
Ryder's P.O.V
I know it was a dick move to say I don't know when i really did, but she caught me by surprise. And nobody catches me by surprise. She just shook her head and kept walking. I followed her. I would follow her anywhere. We walked out of the school doors and to a sleek black car. When she reached into her pocket and pulled out a set of keys, my jaw literally dropped open. She let out the most beautiful laugh ever made me blush.
"Are you surprised that I own something like this?" She asked with a snort.
"Hell yeah! This is amazing." I said awed.
"Well then let's go for a drive and you can show me around town." She said excitedly.
Lucas mentally gave me a high five. Now was our chance to prove ourselves to her. To make her like us because we needed it after the she gave us. I have to give it to her. It was a pretty good one, I thought rubbing my cheek. A slight snicker caught my attention. I looked over to see Astra almost red in the face trying to hold in laughter.
"What's so funny?" I asked her.
"Just thinking about the slap and how ridiculous you looked afterwards!" She squealed bursting into laughter.
I gave her a look and told her to just drive, and she did.
