I was just waiting by that big, double door out in the forest. I always go there around this time of day, usually me and that woman meet up to knock out some jokes. But... she hasn't come around the past week at our normal times, but late at night. I asked her why she was late, and she said she was currently looking after another human. When she said that, I was ready to either accept a new friend or... ya know...

But the woman pointed out that this human was much older than any other human that's fallen, she was as tall as her! (But, I don't know how tall the lady is so...) She must be a teen or adult then.

FWOOSH

I jumped, and placed my hand on the door to regain balance. I listened closely to the door and tried to analyze what was going on.

"TORIEL! PLEASE! I DON'T WANT TO FIGHT YOU!"
"My child, please... go to your room like a good girl."
"NO PLEASE! I NEED TO GO! I CAN'T STAY HERE FOREVER!"
"..."
"M-mom? Please..."
"(Y/ n)..."

Oh god, were... they fighting?! Jeez, it's getting intense. Then, the fight continued on for another half hour or so, the Human continuously sparing the woman. Then, all sound ceased, except for a soft sobbing... Did something bad happen?! No... I heard the woman say, "My child, please... be safe, won't you?" Then the Human girl cried a little louder. Then, silence...

...

Soft footsteps came padding down the hall that led to the door. I hurriedly looked around, and decided to just teleport behind some thickly packed trees. As I hid behind the narrow trees, I could hear the door being pushed open, followed by some excess crying from the Human. As they were coming out of the door, they had their back turned to where I was standing. They had (h/ l), (h/ c) hair, wore a/an (f/ c) sweater and jeans, with brown boots that made it halfway up their legs. They huffed as they pushed the door back behind them. When they turned, it stung my heart to see them is such pain.

They had flushed cheeks, light burn marks on their face and scrapes on their knees.... this looked to be a human female... she didn't notice me. They wiped some drying tears from their eyes and face, and they sniffled as they walked down the snowy path. I decided to follow her. I teleported out from behind the trees and followed close behind, trying to be quiet. For some reason, I couldn't take my eyes off her, and not because I thought she was dangerous... but... something else twinged at my heart. Maybe it was the way she walked? Or the way her hair remained perfectly in tact, no tangles. Or...

SNAP

I was so lost in thought that I didn't realize I stepped over a twig, the sound echoing in the forest. I teleported away just before the Human could turn and see me. They spun around on their heel, and quickly scanned the area. They whisper-yelled, "I-Is somebody there?" Poor kid, probably has a sore throat from crying so hard...

Soon, they got to Pap's bridge, so I started to make myself noticed. I made sure the snow crunched loudly underneath me as I inched closer to her. She definitely noticed this. She began to shake, and didn't dare to turn around. I came up behind her and said, "H U M A N." They began to shake more violently, so I eased up on the Sans Serif for a moment. "Don't you know how to greet a new pal? Turn around and shake my hand." I stepped back a bit and held out my hand, waiting for them to turn. They slowly turned, and she hesitantly raised her hand to meet mine.

ZAP!!

Oh right, heh, I still had a joy buzzer in my palm! I looked up at her (she's a couple inches taller than me >:( ) Her expression was a mix of sad, surprised, shocked, and just plain amused. They remained silent for a moment...

...

The kid burst out laughing, they rubbed their palm and laughed uncontrollably. Wow... a chick who's attractive and likes bad jokes?!

This one's a keeper.
