"Jake's coming over Mom!" My brother Andy yelled from up the stairs.
I felt my heart flip.
"Andy I thought we were going to play Halo."
"Well I can't now, I guess you can hang out with me and Jake."
"Okay." I said hiding my excitement.
"He called and said he has some major problem and needs our advice. Although why he'd want to ask a moron like me is the real question."
"Oh Andy," My mom said, "Don't talk about yourself like that."
I bit my tongue to keep from laughing, "It's probably just another girl crises." Jake was always having girl problems- either someone wanted to date him, or there was someone he wanted to date, or his current girlfriend was acting weird because he wasn't the 100 percent perfect boyfriend that she'd been expecting.
The doorbell rang. Be booop bee booop. . . bee booop beeee boooooop.
I liked the weird chimes it played. Besides, it was the sound that usually meant Jake was there.
"I'll get it!" I shouted.
"That's Jake!" Andy yelled.
"I know!" I yelled pulling at my White jean shorts and Hot Pink tanktop trying to look presentable. I quickly pushed my wavy hair behind my shoulders. (much like selena gomez's)
I hurried over to the door and opened it, to be met by Mr. Gorgeous.
"Oh, Hi Jake." I smile shyly, hiding halfway behind the door.
"Hey Anna" He smiled back, breaking the silence and my heart with it.
"Andy's upstairs." I informed him.
"Thanks." He said still smiling and walked right past me.
"Let's go." Andy said, as him and Jake walked away talking about sweet nothings.
I quickly ran up the stairs and into my room and put on the necklace Jake gave me for my birthday last March. I always wore it around him, for good luck. It was just a red strand of small red glass beads, but I liked it, it was a choker so it usually went with any of my outfits.
I brushed my hair, dark brown, down to my butt, excuse the pun. I scrunched my nose at the reflection. Well. I looked pretty much the same as I did every day, so if it hadn't worked yet, it probably wouldn't now.
I made sure to check my makeup extra careful this time.
I ran up to the mirror my green eyes flickering across my face to check for a mishap.
•Eyeliner and Mascara
Check
•Concealer and Blush
Check
•Eyeshadow and chapstick
Check.
All set
I walked down the stairs slowly trying to collect myself, and knocked on the already open door once I got there, I leaned on the door to get a better look. They didn't hear me.
I found Andy and Jake, as usual, in the basement. Andy was playing with the zoom on the secondhand video camera he'd borrowed from Mom. Jake was still standing by the door, and when I walked in, he threw open his arms and went, "Anna!" in this big dramatic excited voice.
This was their new joke. The week before, Andy had asked them to act out a scene for his camera, and when Jake started doing everything all over-the-top and melodramatic, I had followed along. We thought this was the most hilarious thing ever, and we couldn't get through three lines without falling over laughing. Andy didn't think it was quite so funny.
"Jake!" I cried now with the same dramatic enthusiasm.
"Oh shut up," Andy said, "I told Anna she could hang out with us." Andy told Jake, "Sorry."
I felt my heart drop, did Jake think I was annoying?
"Oh that's fine, she's the only girl I don't mind." Jake said laughing, "Come on in." He waved me over.
"Well if that's the case I hope you don't think i'm too bad." My mom said popping her head in through the doorway.
"MAUM." Me and Andy groaned.
"Hey, i'm just telling you there's $30 on the table for Pizza if you get hungry, I have to go run some errands, but before I do, Anna I need to speak with you."
"Ok." I said suspiciously.
