Gil slowly walked up the steps to see Lizzie sitting up at the table as his mother gave her a plate with chicken and potatoes on it.
"Thanks Mrs. Beilschmidt!" Lizzie dug in and enjoyed her food, but never looked at Gil. He stared and still couldn't wrap his mind around what had happened.
"Gilly?" Gil's mother cocked her head to the side and gave him a concerned look.
"Honey your face is so red? Are you alright?"
He paused for a second, breaking away from his daze. Lizzie looked up at him.
"Giiiiilllly."  She always teased him for his family nickname. Normally he would have a comeback, but he just froze. Suddenly the English language was a mystery to him.
"Gil you idiot! Say something!" He thought.
Gil's mother smiled. She knew this would happen one day.
"Gil, please go wash up for supper, before you chicken gets cold." He took the chance to run for the restroom and wash his hands. For some reason he looked into the mirror and starting fixing his platinum hair.
"What is the matter with me?" This feeling was new, and strange but he kind of liked it... Well he didn't like that it was causing him to make a fool of himself. Well, start caring if he made a fool of himself anyways. Suddenly he felt confident and strutted into the kitchen, but was stopped in his tracks to see Lizzie's mother at the door.
"Hello Mrs. Beilschmidt, I'm here to get Lizzie. We have some family matters to discuss."
"Oh of course! Lizzie your mothers here!!"
"Coming!"
Lizzie finished he last bite of chicken and rushed to the door.
"Thank you Mrs. Beilschmidt. Have a good evening. Say goodnight, Lizzie."
"Goodnight Mrs. Beilschmidt! Night night Gil!"
"B-bye." Gilbert sputtered. He looked at his mother for a moment then ran outside to the side of Lizzie's house to listen in. He'd never been this nosy before but Lizzie had never gone home so early. He was worried to say the least.
"Elizabeta! Look at you! You look like a little boy! And you ruined your good school dress!"
"I'm sorry momma...I was only playing and-"
"I have had enough of this! Your father and I found a good boarding school for you. You're leaving next week."
"What?! But momma!"
"I'm not going to argue about it! You're going to learn to be more lady-like and get a good education! Now go to your room!"
Next he heard Lizzie crying and stomping upstairs. He felt tears sting his eyes as he ran home. When he got home, his mother was on the phone with Lizzie's mom.
"Alright. Thank you. Uh huh. Bye." She then turned to Gil and saw him crying. With out a word she took him in for a hug as he cried into her shoulder.
"I know honey, I know."
