Gil couldn't believe a week had already passed. He tried to stay as strong as possible, but he didn't know what he would do while Lizzie was gone. They had done everything together ever since they were little. They lay side by side beneath the tree for the last time before she left in complete silence. There was nothing to be said. They just needed to soak up a bit of each others presence before not seeing each other. The cool summer breeze caused the willow tree branches to sway as beams of sunlight danced through the leaves. Everything felt so still. Suddenly, Lizzie sat up and cried with her head in her hands. Gil was startled at first, not knowing what to do, but then he knew just to give her some time. He sat up and put his arm around her, holding her close until she calmed down. He felt strange doing this, but he knew it's what she needed. Lizzie nuzzled into him, pouring soft sobs into his shoulder as he stared off into the distance.
"I'm gonna miss you, Gil." She whispered keeping her face buried in his chest.
"Yeah, you too Lizzie." When after a while she stopped crying and just leaned her head on Gil's shoulder not saying a word.
"Elizabeta! It's time to go!!" Lizzie looked up as tears started to form in her eyes again.
"Don't cry Lizzie... It'll be okay. You're going to make lots of new friends and I'm sure they'll teach fencing or something at a big fancy school like that." She looked up and smiled through her tears.
"And when I get back I'll kick your butt in our sword fights." Gil gave a soft smile and pushed a piece of hair out of her eyes and wiped her tears.
"Yeah."
"Elizabeta! It's time to go!!"
"I'm coming Mom!!" She turned towards Gil and hugged him tight. "Bye Gil..."
"Bye Lizzie..." She ran up to her house as the breeze blew her auburn waves behind her. Gil walked home and watched from his window, as Lizzie's car pulled out of her driveway and went down the road.

Four years had passed and Gil found a new group of friends to waste his time with. He had just finished his freshman year of high school and was spending a lot of his time partying, drinking and hitting on every girl he knew.
He had moved on from his first crush, but he still thought about the fun times he had with Lizzie everyday, but that wasn't going to stop him from having fun. It was about eight o'clock on a warm night in June and Gil was getting ready to go to a party at his friend Antonio's house. He leaned forward as he looked in the bathroom mirror to part his hair.
"Are you really going out in that?" His mother said.
"Why not?" Was his response. The two of them had grown apart as Gil became more distant.
"I can't believe some of the things kids are wearing these days." Gil didn't see a problem with what he was wearing. A plain black t-shirt, with ripped jeans and a pair of combat boots was what he typically wore.
"Whatever mom, I'm gonna get going."
"Gilly?" A little blonde toddler waddled into the room past Gilbert's mother.
"Hey there Luddy!" He said as he picked up his little brother. His mother smiled.
"Anything special happen today?" He asked his younger brother, Ludwig who simply shrugged. He was much quieter than his older brother. "Nothing at all?" Gil said, trying to encourage conversation.
"I played with my army men..." Luddy whispered.
"Oh yeah? Did you win the battle?" The child smiled and nodded.
"Awesome! High five!" Gil and put his hand up and Lud smacked it as hard as he could with his little hand, which wasn't much.
"I don't know how I feel about him playing with those toys..." Their mother said.
"Oh it's fine. Well I'm going out. Bye mom, bye Luddy!" Gil handed the child to his mother and kissed her on the cheek as and ran downstairs.
"Be safe honey!" His mom called as he ran out the door. Gil hopped onto his motorcycle and drove to Antonio's house as fast as he could. His clock read '8:43'.
"Crap I'm already late." He said kicking himself. He was always running late. An old habit of his but he always liked to make an entrance anyways. He pulled into his friends house and pulled off his helmet. Music was blaring from the back yard with the sound of laughter and chanting mixed with it. Gil walked over to the fence gate and strutted into Antonio's back yard.
"What's up guys?!" He yelled.
"Hey Gil!" Tony shouted walking over to him. Gil threw his arm around him as they began walking towards the party. People were jumping in the pool while others stood around drinking and laughing.
"Tony it's great to see ya! So tell me what lucky girl do you have your eyes on tonight?"
"Actually I think I'm not gonna deal with that tonight."
"What? Dude what's your deal? You haven't talked to any girls in months."
"I guess I just don't feel like it."
"Hey stupid," another voice called, "what's a dude gotta do to get a drink around here?"
Gil looked in the direction of the shouting and saw a short, brunette with a scowl on his face. "Coming Lovi!" Tony shouted.
"Who's that?" Gil said.
"Just a friend of mine. I'll be right back." Antonio ran over to the short guy with the biggest grin on his face. Gil hadn't seen him smile like that in a long time, but it didn't matter. He started looking around the party to see if there were any girls he wanted to talk to. Then a girl in a green, party dress walked by him. He smirked and followed her to the kitchen. She never noticed him and kept her head down to pour a drink. Gil leaned over on the counter and looked at her.
"Hey babe, isn't it past your bed time?" He teased.
She then looked up at him with a shocked look on her face. That's when Gil knew. He tensed up and froze. He would recognize those piercing green eyes anywhere.
"Gil?"
