Chapter 2
About a week or so later, I woke up early. Well, I always woke up early but this was exceptionally early even for me. I decided that I wasn't going to get back to sleep any time soon, so I reached over for my laptop and huddled in the covers with it on my pillow. I logged into Tumblr. Yes, you guessed it, I'm hooked. I even blog about my personal life now but it's not as if that matters, nobody's reading it. I clicked on the notifications to see what was new and my eyes widened in shock. I read over the line again; 'pinkiepie200 is now following you'. I had a follower. I had a follower! I jumped out of bed and screamed in glee.
I danced my way into Oli's room, waking him up in the process. He lifted his head to look at me and sent me a glare because I had woken him up. It was only five thirty. No big deal. "What?" He mumbled. "I got a follower!" I screamed in his ear. He flinched back, startled by my sudden loudness and then a confused look settled on his features. "What?" He repeated. I screamed, a little quieter this time, "I got a follower! On Tumblr! Someone followed me!" He glared at me again, probably killing me in his mind for waking him up for this. It probably wasn't that important to him. But it was to me. Someone would see my blog on their dash, they would read what I wrote and they might even reply if I messaged them. This was great!
Oli shooed me out of the room, probably trying to get back to sleep. I immediately felt guilty for waking him up like that and decided to keep quiet, I mean he's been all over the place recently, and always seems so nervous around me. As if he thinks that I've got something all figured out. I don't know what, though. I also have to be careful what I say, because if I slip up he immediately becomes extremely uncomfortable. This is a far cry from the brother I'm used to, and I can't help but want to know why he's acting like this. It really confuses me, to be honest. I hope he'll tell me what's up soon, or else I'll have to do some snooping myself, which is not something I like to do.
I decided to go out for an early morning walk to clear my thoughts. All this negative thinking was giving me a sore head. I pulled on a hoodie, leggings and my converse before writing a quick note to Oli and leaving the house. I lived in the middle of the town, just minutes away from the local park. I often wondered what it would be like to live in the countryside, surrounded by fields and meadows. Luckily, the streets were nearly deserted today, with it being still quite early and most people being on holiday, so I made it to the park quickly and with no problems. I strolled along the grass, preferring to walk there than the paths. I occasionally came across a few joggers, most of them in their mid-thirties. About ten minutes later, I felt a tap on my shoulder and whirled around. Standing in front of me was Gabe. Gabriel Barrett was my friend Susie's boyfriend. They were the perfect couple. Susie had long flowing blonde hair and a toned, thin body while Gabe was extremely tall and muscled with golden blonde hair. Gabe himself was the definition of perfect. He was also really friendly, and we got along well, so I was happy to talk to him.
"Hey, Charlie," he smiled. Did I mention that his voice was extremely sexy? Well it is. "Hi Gabe, how are you?" I asked, returning his smile. "Oh, I'm good, except I'm a little lonely now that Susie is gone on holiday," he said, a strange look in his eye. "Aww, you poor thing," I cooed, laughing slightly. Gabe was about to say something else, but his phone rang. He took it out of his pocket, glaring at it, but red the caller ID and said "I have to take this, sorry," to which I replied, "Oh that's okay Gabe, I'll see you around," and continued on my way. Gabe is seriously sex on legs. Seriously. What I would give to have a boy like that. He's so kind and caring, especially towards Susie. He treats her like a princess, which she loves.
I continued on through the park, eventually deciding to go back home and put something into my growling stomach. When I arrived back, I noticed that my note hadn't moved from the table. On closer inspection, I realised that this wasn't my note. Well, that wasn't my handwriting anyway. I picked the note up and read it. "Gone out to do some things. Be back soon. Oli." I murmured. Okay, this was weird. Oli's handwriting is usually quite neat for a boy of his age, but this was a messy scrawl. And he always puts kisses on the end of his notes. Always. There wasn't even a 'love you sis' on this one. Nothing. Nada. Weird behaviour again. I'd get to the bottom of this someday. I decided to give Oli a month to tell me what's up. If he doesn't, I'll ask him. There we go.
Either way, I'll find out why he's been acting so weird. I really hope it's not serious. What if he's in trouble with the police? Oh my god, what if he's joined the Mafia? He wouldn't have. Oli doesn't like fighting, he's a peacekeeper. A lover, not a fighter. Very literal with the 'lover' part. Oli brings home a new girl nearly every few nights. Luckily I can't hear them, I sleep on the other side of the house. Wait. Maybe that's it! Maybe Oli has a secret girlfriend! That would explain why he's always out, and why he actually hasn't had anyone over for about a week, now that I think about it. I am a genius! I'll still give him the month, though to confess, and if he doesn't then I'll ask him about the girl. I wonder if I know her? I probably don't, I live in quite a big town. But there is a small possibility that I could have seen her before. Ver small. Minuscule. But a chance is a chance. I just hope that she's not a slut. That would make life very difficult indeed.
