"You l-love me," I ask Holly.
"Yes, Lydia, I love you," Holly says smiling.
"I love you," I say.She hugs me, tightly. Her arms made me feel safe. I smile, hugging her back. She nuzzles into my neck.
"Holly, I don't want this moment to end, but I need my phone," I say quietly.
"Why," she asks slowly pulling away.
"I need to tell Nate, it's over," I reply.
"Okay," she says walking to the other side of the hospital's room. She grabs a book bag and comes back to my side. She searches through the bag and then pulls out my iPhone 6. She hands it to me. I turn on my phone and I unlock it. I go to my messages, I click on Nate and I's convo. I start typing:
Nate, I know you're cheating on me. So, fuck you. We're done.
I sent the text. Moments later, Nate replies:
Cool.
I look up at Holly, and she's smiling. "So, are we-," I start to say but she cuts me off. "Not yet, we're gonna do this right," Holly says, putting the book bag back. I give her a confused look, and she just keeps that gorgeous smile of hers on. "I'll be right back," she says. I nod as she leaves. She shuts the door.
She told me, she loved me! This isn't happening! This isn't real. Am I dreaming? Did I die and this is some messed up vision I'm having. Maybe I should pinch myself.
I take a couple fingers and pinch my arm hard. Ouch.
Okay, this is real. And now my arm hurts.
I hear the door open. "Holly-" I say but stop when I sit up and realize Bethany just walked in. "Oh, hey Bethany," I say. She walks close
"God, Lydia, you look awful," she says.
Oh thanks, you're so sweet.
"Oh," I reply.
"So, you broke up with Nate, again."
How did she find out so quickly?
"Yup."
"Oh, so is it okay if I date him?"
Aren't they already fucking? Do they really need to date?
"Of course."
"You're the best," she says putting me into a tight hug.I hear the door open and it's Holly, I mouth to her, "Bethany is here, she doesn't know I am bi." She nods and stuff a boutique of flowers in her book bag. She puts the book bag on a chair. Bethany pulls away from the song and looks at Holly.
"Ew, what is that dyke doing here," Bethany says disgusts filling each word she spoke. Holly looks down. No one hurts my Holly.
"Shut the fuck up! Holly is amazing and wonderful. She's here, cause unlike you, she actually cares about me! So I suggest you get your ass out of my hospital room before I kick it," I yell at her.
"Oh, so you're a dyke too. That's why you broke up with Nate. You love a girl!" Bethany says.
"So, what," I ask.
"You're such an idiot," she says walking to the door, "wait, until the school hears about this."
"You're such a bitch," I yell throwing my pillow at her.
"At least, I'm not a dyke," she says running out the door.
Holly looks at me and runs to my side. "Thank you for standing up for me," she says as she hugs me.
"No problem," I reply hugging back.
"Are you gonna be okay," she asks.
"I don't know, will I? Bethany is gonna tell everyone! My mom will find out! You don't understand cause you actually have a supportive family."Holly looks at me, sadness fills her eyes. "I'm sorry loving me, makes your life hard. But you don't know what I've gone through. I don't get my life handed to me, like you do."
"What? Do you not see where I am, right now.I'm in a hospital! My mom lied to everyone about why I'm in here! She looks at me like a disappointment."
"Yeah, you have the world's worst mom," she says sarcastically.
"I think it's time for you to go," I say.
"I think it is." She grabs her book bag and walks to the door. She rolls her eyes at me, then she leaves.God, I need to get the fuck out of here. I need a smoke!
I get up I feel a tug at my wrist. Fuck, my IV. I grab my IV and pull it out. I pick up the book bag, that had my phone in it, and I grab the clothes, that were in it. It was a pair of skinny jeans and a sweatshirt. I go to the bathroom and change into the clothes. I grab the book bag and my phone, and I head out the door. I see Holly talking to my sister.
Well, I won't get my sister's help. I need my mom's. God, I never thought I needed her help.
I look around and I see her on the phone. I run over to her. She looks at me. "I'll call you back," she says into the phone then hangs up. "I don't want to be in the hospital, another second, please take me home," I beg her. She smiles. "Okay, I'll sign you out," my mom says walking to the counter, where the nurses are.
