Minecraft has sixty-one different biomes or natural landscapes.
Each biome type has different characteristics in terms of geography, plants, grass color, leaf color, animals, temperature and weather. The game puts them into five categories (snowy, cold, medium/lush, dry/warm, and neutral) to help prevent opposite types of biomes being generated together, like desert and snow.
