Harry hummed to the song that was playing in the small club that he worked at. It was Wednesday night, so it was fairly empty in the dimly lit place. He walked around, cleaning off the few tables that were unoccupied while trying to ignore the few people actually in the club.
Since he didn't have classes on Thursdays, he always picked up the graveyard shift so he could pick up a few more hours to try and pay for rent. He let out a sigh of relief as he glanced at the clock on the wall behind the bar, noticing he had about five minutes before he had to kick everyone out and close down.
There were only about seven people, however most of them had found another and was either grinding against them or making out by the wall. Harry rolled his eyes, not seeing the point in getting totally wasted to the point you won't remember anything in the morning.
When the clock hit four, he bit his lip to hold back a grin. Walking up to the front of the building, he hopped onto the small makeshift stage and grabbed the microphone. Harry tapped it once, cringing at the loud screech it made.
"I'm sorry to announce that Jay's is actually closing for the night," Harry said into the mic. He noticed his voice was slightly rougher than normal due to not talking to anyone for the past few hours except a couple extremely drunk people looking for the bathroom.
There were a few groans throughout the place, but other than that no one put up a fight. Weekdays were always easier in his opinion, since some people were sensible enough to actually not get drunk before work the next day.
Harry hopped off the small stage after everyone cleared out, walking over to bathrooms to check inside for any stragglers.
After making sure everywhere was clear, he made his way back to the bar and picked up his things. All the tables were cleaned, all the chairs were pushed in, and all the dirty glasses were in back for the morning crew to take care of.
Harry made his way to the front and locked the door from inside before making his way to the back. He walked out, checking his pockets for everything before locking the door with the keys.
Since his flat was about a block away, Harry never felt the need to actually drive to work. It helped save money, anyways, which was something he always needed.
The streets were quiet as he began his walk towards his flat building, happy there was no one around him. The young male made his way into the building, sliding his key into the second door instead of buzzing up to the flat. There wouldn't be anyone there to answer, anyways, he thought to himself as he started the walk up the single flight of stairs needed to get to his flat.
The building was old enough to not have a working elevator, so Harry was extremely thrilled to only have to make it to the second floor rather than the fifth like some.
As he made his way down the hall to his door with the number '25' on it, Harry noticed the body laying on the ground in front of his neighbor's door.
His eyebrows furrowed together as he walked closer to the figure, finally realizing that it was indeed his neighbor Louis that was on the floor. Harry let out a soft sigh as he crouched down in front of the slightly older man, happy to see that he was actually awake.
While Harry would like to say awake and functioning, that didn't really seem to be the case. Louis glanced up at the other, his eyes red and slightly puffy. He had a huge grin on his face as he saw the curly haired boy.
"Hiiiiiiiiii neighbor," Louis said in a slightly loud voice, obviously way too drunk to actually remember Harry's name.
"Hello Louis. What are you doing out here on the floor?" Harry asked, because of course he would. He couldn't just let Louis stay on the floor, no matter how drunk he happened to be.
"Forgot me keeeeys!" Louis exclaimed.
Harry had to resists the urge to roll his eyes, knowing he had to take care of Louis no matter how much he really didn't want to.
"C'mon then," Harry said with a sigh as he stood up from his crouched position. Louis tried getting up himself, but obviously that was something he couldn't do on his own either.
Harry unlocked his own door quickly and pushed it open, leaning back down to wrap his arms around Louis' waist. He decided throwing him over his shoulder would be easier than helping him into his flat, so that's exactly what he did.
Ignoring the small squeal that came from Louis' mouth, the other made his way into the flat and turned to close and lock the door behind him.
"I can see your buuuuuum," Louis said with a giggle as Harry walked into the small living room that was to the right of the front door.
"And you're entirely too drunk to function," Harry told him as he laid him down on the cream colored couch like he'd done a few times before to the smaller boy.
This had been a common occurrence to the two boys, Louis getting drunk off his ass and Harry taking care of him. The younger of the two told the other to stay where he was while he made his way into the kitchen. He knew that Louis would have a killer hangover in the morning, so he grabbed a glass and filled it with water from the faucet.
Next, he grabbed the bottle of ibuprofen from the counter above the sink and took two pills out of it. Making his way back into the living room, Harry noticed that the other was completely passed out in an awkward position on the couch.
He let out a soft chuckle as he sat the water and pills down on the coffee table, figuring he should get the blanket and extra pillow from the hall closet for Louis.
Walking back into the hall, he opened the door and grabbed the blanket and pillow from the small closet before making his way back over to the couch. Harry helped get the other into a more comfortable position on his side, knowing if he laid the way he was laying before that he'd probably wake up with a bad back in the morning. He laid the pillow down on the armrest, adjusting Louis so his head was laying on it instead of off of the couch. After he placed the blanket over the smaller boy's body, he stood up from his crouched position.
Harry chewed on his bottom lip as he looked at how peaceful Louis looked as he slept, knowing in the morning he'd probably be out of his flat and in his own next door.
Letting out a soft sigh, he walked down the hall and into the small bedroom that he called his own. Harry ran a hand through his curls, liking the way they were getting incredibly long. He figured he'd shower in the morning instead of now since he needed to run to the grocery store to pick up a few necessities.
He took off the black skinny jeans that he wore to work earlier before pulling off his plain black v-neck. There wasn't a dress code since it was a club, so he just dressed in things that he found comfortable.
Climbing into his queen-sized bed, Harry glanced out the window. It was nearing five o'clock in the morning now, so he knew he'd only get about an hour before the sunlight showed itself in the glass of the window.
Harry rolled to face the wall, hoping that would help him fall asleep quicker, but he knew the reason keeping him awake was sleeping in his living room.
