...RAVEN...
I headed back to the office and continued filing papers for Meredith, sending out emails to her editors, and other maintenance stuff. Sometimes I wonder what her job is because I do everything. Hell, I even hire and fire employees. I don't get paid enough for all the stuff I do. I might as well be teaching.
"Raven" I heard her voice spew from the speaker connecting our rooms for the 1 billionth time today.
"yes, mam?" I answered, moving from my office into hers.
She looked at me with a strange look before pushing a vase of flowers across the table to me. "these came for you about an hour ago. I guess the mail carrier delivered them to the wrong person."
I started smiling. I've never had flowers delivered to me before. I picked them up from the table and examined them. It was an arrangement of different colored daises. There was a card attached that read:
'Lunch tomorrow. I'll pick you up at 12'
-Chris
I guess he's not a big on asking, but then again it's not like I would have said no.
"sooooo who's Chris?" Meredith asked, pulling me from my thoughts.
"um, a friend of mine."
"right...a friend. I wish I had "friends" that sent me flowers." She said eye balling me before returning her attention back to her work. I took that as my que to go back to my office, but before I go too far she said "don't forget your meeting with Dillon Hunt next week. We need his funding and cooperation."
I just nodded and scurried into my office. The meeting with Dillon is a big deal. He's this filthy rich and powerful architect/ interior designer that we need to make a deal with. We want him to sponsor our magazine, but we are offering him a front page spread of some of his houses, a few other spreads throughout the magazine, as well as an interview. Hopefully he name drops so we can catch more people's attention. Meredith says this is a sure fire way to get the magazine nationwide known instead of just regional.
Needless to say: I cannot fuck this interview up or my life will be over.
...CHRISTOPHER...
*Next Day*
I took Julie to the palace to my mom and then headed out. I needed to get to work to finish some sketched so I could leave early for lunch. I wanted to take her on a picnic, so I'd have to pick up some food to go in this empty basket.
The sketches weren't hard, just tedious. I finished them about an hour before my lunch, so I rolled them, packaged them, and off the grocery store to find something that looked good.
I decided to go with a couple of fresh, deli made Italian subs, fruit salad, a couple cokes, red velvet cupcakes, and a bottle of mascoto. I bought my items and placed them delicately in the basket and placed it in the middle of the back seat of my car.
Finding Richie Rich magazine offices wasn't hard since it was only a few blocks away. I headed up to the top floor and stopped at the receptionist.
"can I help you?" the lady behind the desk asked.
"Is Miss Raven Miller in?"
"yes, do you have an appointment?" since when do assistants need an appointment?
"something like that. She's expecting me."
The lady smirked at me. "are you her boyfriend or something?"
Before I could answer, she walked out of one of the back offices with a frown until she saw me. Then her face brightened and a smile spread across her lips.
When she reached me she stopped and I pulled her into a hug before kissing her cheek.
The receptionist rolled her eyes and turned her attention to her computer. "ready to go?" I asked
"yes. I'm ready to get out of here. Actually, I'm done for the day. Meredith is making today an early day for her"
"well, good. More time for me." I said making her bite her bottom lip. Although it's a nervous habit, it's unbelievably sexy.
I shook that thought out of my head and escorted her to my car and opened the door for her before jogging to my side to get in.
"so where are we headed?" she questioned while looking out the window.
"to a private place for a picnic." I said with a very large smile
"hmmmm sounds suspect." She said laughing.
"don't worry, you're safe." I pulled up to a tall abandoned building and she stared at the side of my face.
"what's this?" she questioned skeptically.
"just wait, you'll see." I said grabbing the picnic basket and blanket after helping her out of the car.
I walked towards the fire escape on the side of the building and she just looked at me with her head tilted to the side. "are you coming? " I asked as I reached out my hand for her to grab, and she did, tightly. It felt good holding her hand. It molded perfectly to mine.
