I hope she doesn't mind  this because I can see myself doing this more often. Maybe not yet because we just started hanging out, but soon enough. After what seemed like a long silence, we were finally at the top. I spread out the blanket close to the ledge of the building and sat the picnic basket in the middle. We sat across from each other, which was great because that meant I could get a full on look at her beauty once again.

I pulled out the sandwiches, fruit and cokes.

"How did you know I loved Italian sandwiches?"

"I just got what I liked and just prayed you'd like it too." I admitted

"well, your prayers have been answered because this my second favorite type of sandwich." She said laughing.

"what's your first favorite?" I asked.

"peanut butter and jelly"

I started cracking up "that's Julie's favorite too!"

"what can I say? I'm just a big kid at heart." She said in between laughing and shrugging her shoulders.

She's beautiful. Absolutely beautiful.

"so what do you look for in a relationship?" she asked out of the blue before taking a bite of her fruit salad.

"a personality that fits mine, lots of laughter, a love of children, family oriented, honesty, trust, patience, and love." I said in one quick mouthful. "oh, and Iike a woman who just loves life and knows what she wants out of it."

"well dang, is there a checklist?" she said seeming a bit intimidated.

"no, I just have to protect Julie and find her a good mother, while finding a good match for myself." I explained.

"that's understandable. So what was your last serious relationship like?"

I took a long swig of my coke to buy me some time to think about my next explanation. She stared at me waiting, and my palms grew sweaty.

"my last relationship was Julissa's mom. We were engaged but it turned out, she didn't really love me, she just loved what I had, so she left me and gave me custody of Julie." I left out a few minute details, but this should paint a clear enough picture for her.

"aww I'm sorry to hear that." She said rubbing my arm, causing the hair to stand up.

"it's ok. That was over 3 years ago. I just learned to be more careful." I took a bite of my sandwich and looked over the edge of the rooftop. "so tell me about your last serious relationship." I said trying to take the heat off me.

"I dated this guy Tyga for about 7 months. He was great at first, but then the real him started to show. He was emotionally abusive; he lied, and cheated, but managed to make me feel bad about it. Didn't matter what I did, it was always the wrong thing." She looked at the fruit and picked at it some.

"well, I'd never do that. I'd treat you the way I want some young man to treat Julie one day. You should never settle for less than the best, because that's what you deserve." I offered a smile and she smiled back.

It was quiet for a while before either of us spoke. We just enjoyed each other's company and ate. "ready for dessert?" I asked once we both finished our sandwiches and fruits. She nodded.

I pulled the cupcakes and wine out. "ok you're creeping me out now. Red velvet cupcakes and moscoto are my favorites!" she said enthusiastically.

I chuckled lightly. " the cupcakes are Julissa's favorite, and the wine is the only wine my mother will drink when she even drinks it."

"The women in your life have some pretty good taste." She smiled again.

"yeah, I'd say so." I said as I poured us a glass of wine. We drank, chatted and ate for a while until it was time for to take her back to her office to get her car.

"Thanks, Chris" raven said once we reached her car, which I drove her right up next to.

"no problem; it was fun."

She reched over and gave me a hug. I kissed her on the cheek and she got in her car.

"uh, Chris." She said right before she shut her door.

"yes?"

"don't be afraid to call me. I love talking"

"well, don't be afraid to call me either. The only conversation I have is normally with a 3 year old."

We shared a laugh before she started her car. "bye" she said waving.

"bye"

She pulled off and so did I immediately afterward.
